I am back and I did not make the first cut. Looks like the 5 that did were young supermodels and one mom. To be honest I am not down about it as I did not get the warm fuzzy from them like I did with jetblue. I will be ready to go back home tomorrow and sleep in my own bed again and hopefully hear something good from jetBlue and get a phone call from Delta.

So if you've had your FTF and have heard nothing, I'm assuming that means they are still considering you!

Matt,
That's good to still hear! I had my ftf on 12/5, never got a "no thanks" email. I've yet to hear ANYTHING at all. Over a month now. UGH.

My girlfriend called me from Delta training today. I'm jealous LOL

Yeah, and who wants to be in Anchorage for a whole year, anyway? Besides the fact that it's always cold, isn't it dark lots of hours of the day? Or is it sunny lots of hours of the day? tee hee, I can't remember...
SHANE, if your gut tells you it's JetBlue, then it's JetBlue.....
Lots of good wishes your way, my friend!

Thanks Natasha. Well I was the only man in a group of 20 women so I had to comment on that in the interview, lol. It would have been fun but I just didn't have my heart in it and maybe they picked up on that who knows. Now I go home and wait to hear from Delta or JetBlue or any of the other airlines I put an application in and have not heard anything.

RJ: I may go to the FTF in Feb. But I want to go after JetBlue and Shuttle right now. Omni, may be in the future when my kids are a little older.. ya know. Delta is wanted by so many... and after the last month I've lost that "want it badly" desire. So, I think it would be appropriate for me to step aside and give my spot to someone who really, really, really, wants it. ( I don't have a spot with them.. but if I did... you know what I mean)
Shuttle America will be taking delivery of new planes in the next few months.. which will be very, very nice!
I agree, they seem very nice and hear nothing but great things about them.. with regard of longevity.
Training is 19 days... thats long enough to be away from my little loves. :)

NATASHA: You're over 40? No way... girl you have a great upbeat personality..
wow.. I hope I can be like that when I get to the 40 and over!

My friends go to TLV 90% of the time, but you do have the option of picking up other trips. I think they just want the most hours.

its more then that cus u land in israel at 2PM and then the FAA rule say after internatunal flight u have to stay on ground min of 36 hours, but becouse there is a flight every midnight u basically miss the flight on the day after u arrive and only take the flight 2 nights after that. for ex - landing on monday 2 PM, wait 36 hours bring u to 2 am 2 hours after the flight so u have to take the flight the day after, on wednesday . im general - 2 night and 2 and an half days of layover.

Allie, hmmmm - where are you in the Delta process? how did you answer their questions? what is your customer service background? are you willing to relocate? are you willing to cut your hair? can you be gone for 18 days per month (out of the country?) with a max of 43 days?? do you have a husband or kids?

Michael (Clarkston, GA), I'm 38...I don't mind adding ages

Shanester, no smoking????? what? can they do that? even in basic training in the military you "earn your caffeine and tobacco" - they can't make you quit smoking - call ACLU!! Alaska Air (nnd Eagle)was helping you choose Jet Blue!!

reneguerro - layover would be anywhere from 24-36 hours; scheduled only on one route; base salary around $20,000

peace, merger = furlough/layoff

MattATL, careful posting hotel layover info - that is a security matter

Brittany, GA - out of 90 people - I would say 12-15 will quit or fail (academically)

Doron, I used to work Paris flights with 12 hour layovers - as long as you have "8 hours behind your hotel door" it's legal...but of course those flights from JFK were much shorter

PIPride - go to SWA!!! they are THE HIGHEST paid airline. And you get to wear comfy clothes (kahkis, shorts, tennis shoes)...they are loads of fun. I had no idea they were hiring.

I went to St. Louis on December 30th to see him. God it was so amazing! I was literally five feet from him, too!

Then the next morning we drove to Dayton to go to Tri-State Love.

ILOVEDELTA That is a policy of Alaska alot of people left because of the no smoking policy and they will nicotine test you. You can cross my name off the list I didn't even make the first cut for the one on one interview but I am not upset as I got an e-mail from jetBlue saying they are moving me through their process and I got an e-mail from USIS and filled out my background information.

Thanks I was so happy to get that e-mail this morning makes me feel alot better about not even getting a ftf with Alaska. I wonder if they are having another open house like I went too. You might have to do the automated phone interview if not but i am glad you submitted your application as the job for a FA is not listed anymore.

I know really. If it wasn't for your post about JetBlue... I would have missed the cut off. I have one in..
and I am really excited about them!
More money and I will move up quicker than I would have with Delta. JetBlue will continue to hire at times... Delta may not hire for years. ILOVEDELTA explained it pretty clear that the FA's that have been at the bottom have been there for a real long time.
I'm not a language speaker... so I probably wouldn't get any international trips..or very few of them.
I know Delta is the best for some.. it just turned out that after I thought about it... it wasn't the best fit for me right now. I want JetBlue...or Shuttle A. if I don't get it.. I still can go to the FTF in FEB for Delta. I'm doing things in reverse that you are! :)

I was about to ask if I could have your ftf, lol. Well hopefully they will call I know the recruiter is very busy and VERY hard to contact. I had to call like 10 times before I got ahold of her. They told us it would be awhile before we would be off reserve but you do get nice pay raises after a few years and they only really look for Spanish only folks so those that are English only have alot better shot than like Delta and they only require one person to speak Spanish for the Caribbean flights but for those interested the test is a 20 min phone test and you take that at training or after training so you would not get turned down a job offer if you don't do well on the test.

Easy interview BTW... Nice people there.
I passed on them because I didn't want to be based in California. You get the job offer on the spot. You will be interview by one or two of their base directors. Bring four copies of your resume. Three they will take and one for you to keep to fill out the paper application)
All, very nice people. You will need to read an announcement during the interview. I had the "boarding and no smoking announcement"

If you have any more questions-- just ask!
Go to go now... bye!

Is their pay competitive? Where in California would you be living? How does the interview go? I've got about a million questions, lol. Any info you have I'd eat up!

I am very thankful to your post a few days ago.. when you mentioned that you were going to the open house for JetBlue.
I did an application a few days later after I reviewed the company as a whole.
I was very impressed! Thanks to your post I did get my application in before they closed the option to apply! Phew!
I lived in Italy for a year.. so I have some knowledge of Italian. Spanish and Italian are similar...in a way.
I've been invited to interview with Shuttle A. in Indy. I am waiting for the email with the details.

You should call the 488-4473 number if you have been waiting for a month to get the FTF scheduled. I called and they called me back in 2 days. Then I had to call them back again... and they called me back in 1 day. So they do get your mesg on that line. Leave you name and number with the length of time it has been since your invite to the FTF and mention that you were inquiring if Delta was still interested in meeting with you.

Leila, I've spoken with them twice - had two phone interviews and have a FTF scheduled for 1/31. All I know is that in addition to their current routes, they're starting JFK - Paris later this year. Pay is $32/hour. Per diem is around $1.75. But their interview process is very competitive - they seem to be looking for people with advanced degrees and/or experience working with the wealthy sector.
