Hallo!

I am relocating to Munich with my husband in a few months, I will have a residency visa, + my unrestricted US passport, and would like to become hired either by either a European airline or perhaps a US airline that has a base in Munich.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I am studying German and would love to work as a FA for Lufthansa, however, I am unsure if they will hire me as I carry no actual "work visa".

Also, is it the case that most US airlines prefer to keep you near their headquarters, especially in the beginning?

Any advice, suggestions, experience would be so greatly appreciated.

Yes and Yes. If you are hired as a foreign speaker they can get around the work visa. Stateside, if you are on reserve, which is the norm for a new hire under most circumstances, you must live within a 2 hr distance from the airport.
