I have a few questions. Im 27 Male from Connecticut. I was wondering, is this a good job for a guy? I feel like I have seen more woman in this position but I cant help but feel like traveling while getting paid is the best thing ever! And also are males in demand for this type of position?

Other question is, do I need to take one of these FA schools? I saw one class that was $3500, but Im not sure how needed that is? Are there airlines in which pay for training and such? My closest airports are BDL and PVD.

Last question is, I live 1 hour from both airports. Is that a bad distance? Would I have to move closer to one of those or would I need to move to a hub of some sort?

Unless you want to waste your money, DON'T attend one of those schools. ANY airline that hires you trains you fully to their specifications. You don't necessarily have to move to a base for an airline, but you'll probably have to get a crashpad so you'll be close to base while on Reserve.
Also, don't worry, there are many males in the industry! Good luck.

Thanks for response avia11! I am a little confused with this crashpad deal? I know what it is but how do you work it into your areas of flight? Say I have one in NYC but I have a flight end off in California? And you say it's a place to go while on Reserve? Would I be on reserve for certain periods of time? Or isn't it all the time which means I wouldnt be at my home at all? Just a little clarification is all I am looking for on that. Thanks!

The are plenty of males in the airline industry, so no worries there. as for your assignment, wherever you are based your trips will start and end there. So the example you gave above say your NYC base. You have a flight JFK-LAX. Thats about a 5-6hr flight most airlines will layover you over in LAX for the day. Meaning they provide you with lodging. Than the next day your flight is LAX-JFK and your finished with your assignment. Well your back at your base, so you can go to your crashpad or go home until your next assignment. If your still on call afer your trip has been completed, you will need to remain at base, until your day(s) off. Which is why people have a crashpad at their base. if you have anymore questions you can email e at: bkkfa@yahoo.com
