Lisa, my interview with them is next week. How was it? |
|
Lisa 25 months ago |
Lacey, It actually was the group interview. It was very pleasant to sit through. Things were kept very "lite". Dale and Reta were the 2 recruiters. After the base presentation, we were talked with 1 on 1. A few simple questions were asked. Ex: What goal did you set out for and did you accomplish it and how? The 1 on 1 lasted less then 5 minutes. I hope I am offered a position. They say I should receive an email within 2-28 days. UGH...the wait. I wish you luck. Keep in touch! mrsjem2004@aol.com Lisa |

Tamika in Charlotte, North Carolina said: Hi Lisa, Please keep in mind that 'how fast they move' has nothing to do with how much they 'want' you. An invitation to training can take anywhere from 2 hrs to 3 mos. They may need to add bodies because they got new aircraft and have more routes to fill but, most likely they too many fa's quit and need more bodies to fill their places. At my airline you get study materials sent to your home also. You get 90 days to study and then you get a test. You must score 90% or higher or you are cut loose. If you pass, you must next pass a drug test, physical exam and background check. Classes were 7 days per week for 5 weeks. Every morning you got a test on what the instruction was the day before. Again, a 90% or higher is required or you are gone. If you make it this far, you get a final exam which you also must pass at at least 90%. You pass, then there is a formal graduation ceremony. Next comes IOE (initial operating experience). You fly whatever hrs are required on each type of equipment your airline operates. If you pass IOE, you become a reserve fa and go on call until you have earned enough seniority to 'bid' (like a monthly lottery where the winners by seniority claim the 'line' (your schedule for the month). As your seniority rises, so do your chances of getting a 'hard line' (regular schedule). Every month you have to bid for the next months schedule. Depending on the size of your airline, it may take several years to be senior enough to get weekends of holidays off or the 'better' overnight trips or shift hours. Most important of all. Guard your health. You are going to be bombarded with every germ and virus known to man. |

never assume that advice isn't qualified. i had 2 yrs with United, 17 in sr. mgmt with PanAm in NY and almost 8 as a regional fa so there are maybe a few things i do know. at the top of the list - an fa job is not a good job for many reasons, the most important being the health risks. i have lots of time to respond to posts because i'm trapped indoors hooked up to IV's and have been for months. i wouldn't put those wings back on again - ever. i try hard to emphasize the risk but i am powerless to do more if not taken seriously. i do wish all the fa wanna be's good luck, answer questions if i can, but still wish they would all reconsider. |

All the negatives and postive of the job are true just keep in mind you aren't becoming a flight attendant for the money. You wno't make it :) You are doing this because you want the benefits, they are pretty decent for the flight ones. Yes you'll be on reserve, but in a regional you move up a little faster then mainline ones. My instructor was on reserve for 10 months in PHX, others have only been on reserve for like 3-4 months in IAD and ORD. If your in the del rio right now, come say hi :) I'm sure you'll find me. |

Hi Timothy. I have some concerns about the training. I leave out for my training on Monday. If you can answer how was the training, how long did training last, did a lot of people pass the exams, and do you know if youre going to be located where you asked to be? Lastly, when you say its not for the money, how much money do you think a FA will make their first year. I know youre glad you passed, you are a Fa now :). I am very nervous as well as excited, any suggestions. |

I have a question for any current Mesa FA's. Health Insurance! Do they cover the cost of the FA's insurance? Do they cover the spouse? Can anyone give me an estimate of the cost to the FA for themself and the spouse? Thanks! |

Hello Everyone! Sitting here and studying my airport codes. WOW!...some make no sense! I have a question for anyone that may have taken the test.... Do they give you a master list of the airports even if mixed up to take a choice from? Or is all from memory? Thanks,

ATL FA in Atlanta, Georgia said: Mesa? You've got to be kidding? The previous poster has third grade spelling skills and they got hired! That, in itself, should tell you something. Great job if you want to work like an elephant and get paid peanuts. Ha twit. They don't know literate skills until someone is sent to training. Just receiving a packet doesn't mean you are hired at all, it just means you are capable of being sent to training. They test you once you get to training (PHX)and then if you PASS, you go to school, with further testing. during the classes they have even MORE tests. If you fail, you are sent home. If you pass all tests with a decent score, you are then hired. The hiring takes place after training is completed. :):):) |

ATL FA in Marietta, Georgia said: Easy, fun money??? Are you kidding? You are going to make about $17,000 yr and work your way up to $25,000 yr After several years of hard work. You will not have time for family, friends or school for the first year - plan on putting your personal life on hold. Forget the lies they told you at the interview - you have just signed on for Legalized Slave Labor. If you have a husband to pay the bills while you are working then you are lucky. If not, you will be sharing a place with other fa's or living at home with your parents because you will not be able to afford a place of your own. If you are older and your home and car are already paid for then you are in a better position to work this 'fun' job. More than half of all new flight attendants quit after the first month. One in ten will make it to their 5 yr anniversary. Bad odds here. The benefits stink! Free travel? The free travel is stand-by. The planes are full and you cant get a 'free' seat if you have less than 15 yrs seniority. A REAL job will pay you enough to buy a REAL seat if you want to travel. And don't forget the risks to your health! One in ten of us is out on medical leave for severe illness or injury. You could end up like me - stuck to an IV pole for months unable to go outdoors or work ANY job. Take a look at www.welcomeaboardtoxicairlines and tell those people they can keep their lousy fa job! LOL! |

ATL FA in Marietta, Georgia said: Mesa is just another regional airline. They are all the same. No need to bash them, the job speaks for itself. Long, hard days, poverty wages and damaging consequences to your health. Sure, most jobs have their negative side BUT how many jobs are there that put your health in jeopardy for such piddly wages? Oh, won't happen to me... that's what I thought too eight years ago when I became an FA... want to see me now? I've been hooked up to IV meds for several months. I can't work my FA job or ANY other job for at least another six months and I'm living on disability insurance which barely covers my mortgage. Everything I ever worked for, my car, my home, my savings will all be gone soon because I thought... Oh, won't happen to me. I'm part of a large group of FA's and pilots in the same boat and I'd like to spare other people from making a disastrous mistake. How is 15.40 bad wages? thats much more than anything I've gotten in the past. |

Did they tell you it's 15.40 in Block Time? That will come out to about $6.00 hr in Real Time. What airline starts you at only 15.40/hr block? That's horrible! |
