And whatever I don't take with me to my base, I am going to send home after training. also I am hoping to get CLT but if not I am going to Crash Pad it. Yeah, that could be fun....I'm a pretty easygoing individual, so I'm hoping to get along with whomever I'm roomed with. I'm going to ATTEMPT to pack lots of goodies, but I have a feeling that I'll be making a trip to the nearby Wal-Mart! And no, you won't get CLT right away, it would take time and senority. But people have gone to some of the more 'senior' bases recently. As in any job there is bound to be good and bad. However, PLEASE let us make the choice to go, not go, like it, dislike it or whatever. FA's are suppose to be spontaneous, out going and friendly(perky almost), and kind. So please stop with all the negitive stuff and allow us to enjoy our decision to try and be the best Flight Attendants we can be. If its that bad why are there hundred's of thousdands all over the world? Please don't answer that. I love this forum, Its been very helpful and we are all adults. And yes there are many many FA's I know who LOVE the job, Mesa Included. What about probation? I feel as any other job, Do your best, be kind and work hard and you will go through life alot happier. I worked for a major airline for over 20 years, I had a terrible thing happen to me in my personal life and decided to walk away for a few years until I was okay with things. My Airline was awsome during the 5 years I had to go through hell to get my sprit back. and Yes I do believe I will LOVE Mesa as much as I loved my other airline. I've read the good and the bad, and I don't think that this opportunity will present anything that I can't handle. And, if worse come to worse, I can walk away from it if it isn't right for me. I can't see being "canned" unless there is a reason. I know its really hard to get fired and know some who should be and weren't. And others that were and got their jobs back, (even when they shouldnt have). That's a positive sign. Mesa FAs deserve representation. For years Mesa resisted all unionization efforts. The pilots needed a lot of gumption to finally achieve ALPA unionization. Even so, about five years ago Mesa started an alter-ego airline, called Freedom Airlines, to try to bust ALPA (Get the pun? How funny.). Several Mesa pilots "scabbed" to fly for Freedom. I recognized a couple of names on the Freedom pilot list; neither name surprised me. Both individuals were a$$holes. Eventually, ALPA and Mesa signed a new contract and there was no more Freedom (sorry). "I am going in with the best attitude I can and I am going to love it or move onto something else." For Mesa that is the best attitude you can have. Once again, best of luck with class. I am sure I will LOVE it........Flying is in my blood. I still have lifetime pass privlidges for my last job. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES AT ALL - WHICH IS WHY THEY HAVE TRAINING CLASSES ALL THE TIME. THE TURNOVER IS HORRIBLE. LOOK AT MAINLINE EMPLOYERS - THEY USUALLY HAVE LESS THAN 10 TRAINING CLASSES A YEAR. MESA HAS THEM ALMOST EVERY WEEK! WHEN STAYING AT MESA HOTELS WE HAVE HAD HUGE PROBLEMS WITH SAFETY. I'd bet a dollar to your time they're either (1) counting down the hours until they have enough time to apply to better (?) regionals, the majors or corporate or (2) have built time and are pumping out resumes left and right to better regionals, the majors and corporate. Don't get me wrong; Mesa is fine for building flight time. Mesa 121 time is recognized everywhere. But, for most pilots and, I'm sure, most FAs, Mesa is certainly not a career destination. In all fairness, as you know, only a few majors and legacies have resumed hiring. That's why they have few classes. In the meantime, the regionals are hiring left and right and are holding new-hire classes left and right. Of course, there's nothing wrong with an airline career, though it's not as good as it once was. And, don't forget the cyclical nature of the airline business. Furloughs can last for years. Lisa 52 months ago	After reading this blog for the past couple of weeks....it has made me think about many different things. I believe EVERY job/career/company has its ups and downs. I believe it is all what you put into it. I am very excited to have the OPPORTUNITY to try my hand in the airlines. In preparing for my training class...of course all the studying...the shopping of clothing which is required and supplies,yesterday I added a flu shot to my list.
