It's too bad, I really like Mesa Air. Are there classes going on right now for Mesa?? I was offered the FA position back in October. Hi Monica,
Sincerely,

Anyone else waiting for the training to resume? I just talked to Pearl today and she said there was a meeting regarding hiring of new flight attendants. There should be a letter going out to everyone about the status of fa training. |

Mesa started hiring again.. They're supposed to post open interviews today on their website. I don't understand why they are hiring and they haven't let us through training. |

Did anyone else get the letter from Mesa? It looks like it's going to be a while before training resumes. Oh well it's okay. |

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see mesa go bankrupt within the next 6 months. They were on the verge of it in early 2008. Be glad u don't go work for them because it would be even tougher when they do go bankrupt and you've already invested all the money in relocating and whatnot. Its a blessing in desguise, even if you guys can't see it at the moment :) |

I have been waiting forever for the training to resume! I am starting to doubt I will ever be able to fly :( they need to get it together! |
|
Monica Daniel in Rocky Mount, North Carolina 4 months ago |
I think you need to be more understanding. Airline companies are having financial difficulties. Be more positive about the situation, some people haven't been invited to a training class.Meanwhile keep working and save money for future vacations. Also continue studying your flight attendant packet. Good things come to those who wait :) |

Very true... I should have a little more faith in the company.. It is my dream and I cannot wait to get in the air! Maybe this postponement is a blessing in disguise for us all. Sorry to all! I did not mean to come across so negative. Anybody think/ know if they will have a training class by fall? can't wait.. |
|
Monica Daniel in Rocky Mount, North Carolina 4 months ago |
You weren't being negative.. It's what most everyone is thinking in the back of their mind. This is the letter I received from the recruiters: Dear Flight Attendant Candidate, Since our last correspondence to you on April 24th, 2009, we would like to take a moment to give you an update on our current Flight Attendant Training classes. Many of you have written or called and we would like to thank each of you for your patience and understanding. As we previously mentioned, our operational needs have not warranted additional classes being scheduled for the immediate future. We expected to have a more specific update for you now but, regrettably, we cannot give you any long range projections at this time. As we stated in our previous letter to you, on April 24th, 2009, we continue to closely monitor the circumstances and we will advise you as soon as our company's operational needs warrant training classes. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience caused by this postponement and will email you when we have an update. Realizing that each person's situation is different, please advise us if you would like to remain on the list for upcoming Flight Attendant training classes by simply responding to this email. With best regards, Pearl Norton |

i work for Mesa-airfor over 2 years and the reason they are not doing any classes is cause they are loosing there contract with Delta air and when they loose that cointract they are done so dont give your hope up waiting on mesa try other airlines
|
|
Monica Daniel in Rocky Mount, North Carolina 4 months ago |
Don't listen to someone who doesn't even work for Mesa and can't even spell and doesn't know the difference between their and there. Keep your chin up, because most airlines are having the same difficulties as Mesa. |

So not true..... First off I am a Flight Attendant with Mesa and I was on the Freedom side for over one year. Mesa is facing several issues with Delta and they most likely will lose the contract, however Mesa still continues to fly for US Airways and United. Although Mesa continues to have it's problems no Flight Attendant has ever been laid off in the history of the company...Pilots thats another story. Mesa is having a rough time but so is most of the industry |

First off that is a complete lie that mesa has never fired a FA! I know numerous flight attendants that got fired there, my friend david being one. This is why they have a huge turn over. Their philosophy is why keep someone a long time and pay them more when u can get new FAs and pay them less. |

Hello everyone. I hope you find this helpful: I have read past posts about the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects of being a flight attendant. Well, union or not, good or bad management, bad things can happen. So please read on and be careful out there. I wish to share a story about caution with all of you. I am a flight attendant with Southwest and very happy with my job. My roommate however, was not so lucky. She used to work as a flight attendant for Air Wisconsin Airlines. Two years after being hired she worked with a first officer who sexually harassed her in a very disturbing manner. She became afraid and asked the EAP and Union for help. She asked to not be scheduled with him ever again. They called the first officer and asked about the incident but he denied it, and both, EAP and Union representatives told her that since he did not admit to it they couldn't do a thing. Less than a week after that the first officer started insulting her whenever he saw her, shoving her when he walked by her, and she started getting nasty messages from unknown numbers saying she was a b**ch for complaining to the EAP and union and that she was trying to get him fired and ruined his career and now she had to suffer the consequences. The strange messages became more insulting and when we tried to trace them found out they were from pre-paid phones or phone cards. Then she started to see him pretty much everywhere she went. She went to the police to request a retraining order but since he had not left any physical evidence and had not been violent they said all they could do was file a report and petition. She took the report to the Air Wisconsin and asked management for help. All she wanted was to not be schedule with him ever again, but they said he had denied everything and there was nothing they could do. She went to work every day with fear that she may have to fly with him. Finally it happened. They were scheduled for a two-day trip. |

To continue with what happened: When she showed up and saw him she got so afraid that she started vomiting and had to call in sick. The following week the same thing happened and she had a panic attack. He continued scaring her and her panic attacks got worse. She finally went to counseling for about three months while changing her schedules to avoid seeing him. Still, he continued with the insults and threatening messages. With a letter from her counselor she went to the company, EAP, and union again but was told that if she was afraid she could just quit. She switched bases and relocated to another base in a different state, but a week after she moved he also switched bases to her new base. Finally in December she was working and he showed up as a must ride passenger with his captain and flight attendant. My roommate called scheduling asking to please switch his flight because she was too afraid. They called and asked him if he wanted another flight. He laughed and said he had a party to go to so he was staying. My roommate started to cry and panic and refused to work the flight. Management sent her home for insubordination, suspended her for 5 days, and then fired her for refusing to work her flight. |

A three-judge Washington, D.C. federal appeals court affirmed Mesa's earlier preliminary injunction against Delta's attempted termination of their contract. Mesa asserts Delta is barred from terminating the contract. That matter remains to be litigated. Google "mesa airlines delta contract." The Court's opinion should be your first hit. |

Well to all that have been waiting for my update. Things are going great for me! Several people I trained with are gone but in my opinion they didn't want the job or didn't take it seriously. If this is something you want to do, then go for it! I love my job! So far, so good. mesa isn't bad. |

What is it about being a "flight attendant" that is so alluring ? Why is it a dream to so many? Maybe because the movies and TV have depicted being a flight attendant as glamourous and fun...even sexy. Like many things on TV and in the movies, that image is false. The dream does not match the reality!

FORMER FA in Marietta, Georgia 3 months ago |
hey DLP, ltns. hope all is well with you. i've been out of work for several months and not doing all that well but obviously still alive. i spend most of my time at the pool just getting toasty. went to the beach too. i'm slow but so far steady. some friends are going to strap a snorkle on me and push me around the caribbean so i'm not complaining. my airline friends are getting furloughed by great numbers and some working 5 to 7 legs a day, what a killer huh. so i'm just plodding along. makes me feel better when i see somebody else post health risks cause maybe it will make some people reconsider. |
|
Displaced Legal Professional in Denver, Colorado 3 months ago |
Sorry about your work situation, ATL. The GM and Chrysler bankruptcies certainly didn't further your cause. We were on a flight recently. I can't get out of my head how hard the FAs worked. It seemed they were doing nothing but going up and down the aisles. They served beverages, and went up and down the aisles repeatedly to collect service items. This was a two-hour trip on a 777. I can only imagine them having to repeat the process for however more legs they were scheduled that day. I hope you looked at that thread I posted, above, ATL. Interesting....and that FA has many years with UAL. Continued best wishes for your health, ATL. |

I just got hired on with mesa as a aircraft dispatcher. While it is sad and dis-heartening hearing about the fas that are not happy with mesa, I have heard nothing but good things about dispatchers that have worked there. |

I was a mesa/freedom Fa. And she said laid off she didnt say get fired. Mesa fire there FAs ,however the vast majority are young and irresponsible. I am friend with a number of crew tracker and they complain alot about those young FAs that do not take the job seriously. Yes they work your butt of but you can always get your way. there is a saying be nice to crew tracking and they'll be nice to you. Im sorry for those who didnt take that saying seriously |
|
annabanana439 3 months ago |
Laid off and fired are the same thing, and he wasn't "young". |
|
annabanana439 3 months ago |
Also iv never heard that saying, all crew trackers are uneducated people making minimum wage, and just want to flirt with the pilots, that's a big reason why the pilots are treated better, I lived with them, so I know. |
|
me in Lakeland, Florida 3 months ago |
the crew trackers from mesa/freedom are nothing but teen age kids they get off the street and mesa/freedom is nothing but a big joke i was with them for over 2 1/2 years and i am not a young kid i am in my mid 40's if i had to do it all over again i would not of chosen mesa they are the worst airline any one can work for they treat their employees like trash......... |

No one can convince me that if "you be nice to the crew trackers they will be nice to you" because they do not give a rat's butt about the FA's! I dated a pilot and a crew tracker would text him pics of her naked, ridiculous!!! And that's B.S. About the doctor's note! |
