newbie FA in Memphis in Cordova, Tennessee said: Just graduated on May 26th after a year of waiting. They are hiring 10 to be based in MSP. They will call you to come to the information session. They don't do open info sessions anymore. Almost done with OE and soon will be flying all the time. Hang in there, you will get it eventually. Wow, I never heard that!! I just spoke to someone at Mesaba and said look to the website for hiring and information sessions for DTW. Not sure when, but when they resume hiring in DTW it will definetly be an information session. Does anyone know when they will start hiring for DTW for flight attendants? |

what was the flying benefits like for you after the nwa/delta merger? how many international travel days/companion passes did you get? |
|
swandancer in Farmington, Michigan 23 months ago |
We got all the flying benefits offered to any Delta employee just if a flight was betweern the 2 of us Delta went first, you got 8 buddy passes a year starting on your 1 year anniversary. International flying you just paid the taxes. But I just graduated on May 26th so I never got to take advantage of any of it. |

so was your travel days unlimited or you had a certain number that you could have? Pinnacle gets 3 free travel days. I thought Compass and Mesaba got 18? |

What the heck is up with their new "Must be able to have a knuckle to knuckle arm span of 57 inches or greater" rule, and why the heck would that even matter? I've worked on crjs for many years and I'm very short, never had any problems on it! Also, is Iris still in charge of hiring the flight attendants over there? |

For safety Reasons you have to be able to hold an assist handle when you open the door on the CRJs and then reach down to the ground to pull the door handle and open the door. It was a policy they made after a flight attendant fell out the door. |

??Don't understand Why?? in Saint Paul, Minnesota 22 months ago |
I met all the requirements nothing on my record I'm slim trim and just not understanding what the problem was. Everyone that knows me are also confused because they all say I completely fit the bill personality wise. I did leave them a voicemail and now I wonder if they will call me back just to let me know what the problem was. Thank goodness I have a nice paying office position right now, I just would like to do something different :( |

Don't feel bad.. I was not even invited to interview and I have previous regional airline as well as charter airline experience. Somehow other peoples qualifications matched better, don't get it.. What airlines are looking varies between recruiters. Keep your head up another airline will like you. Thanks Joey your right! The boost I needed. And good luck to you as well. |

Hi! I'm a Colgan flight attendant and I would love to hear your opinions about the AFA. I can't speak for the f/a-s at Pinnacle, but we HATE the USW at Colgan. We'll probably vote for AFA, but we're afraid of losing pay scale. Our new f/a-s start at $17 and they're at $19 after a year. Our annual raise is higher as well. (Your most senior f/a-s would make over $32 per hour on our pay scale.) I don't personally know any Mesaba f/a-s. I am excited to from you guys about your work environment and your relationship with the AFA. Thanks!!! |

I can't speak for the f/a-s at Pinnacle, but we HATE the USW at Colgan. Sometimes its not about how much you make per hour that matters... Im not sure how it is with Colgan, but at Mesaba, we get either actual block time or scheduled block time whichever is greater. We also get trip guarentee. i have had whole days cancel before and still got payed. The only thing that wish we did have and hopefully the AFA will fight for is min day. Flying 4 day trips that are worth 10hrs total is beyond crazy. It only happened on like one or two pairings, but that shouldnt happen at all. So far the AFA has been representing us pretty well, but we shall see if we come out of this merger on the plus side. All I got to say is hopefully they work for their money or else my opinion will be changing. |

Chuck in Minneapolis, Minnesota said: Mesaba said you will only make $16.000 your first year. Is that true, because that sucks big time. What do you take home on your paychecks after taxes. $16000 a year... let me do the math.. thats $1200 dollars every mth (#hrs/4 X 52wks X pay). I got that once and I was on reserve and flew only 23 hrs that month, so I pretty much only got my guaranteed and a little per diem. That $16000 is what you are guaranteed. I learned quickly to pick up trips on my days off, because when you are on reserve those hours go above your 75. Our line holders are holding lines that are 85-95 hrs which is $18785-$21000 just for hours at $17/per hr (rounded fist years pay) thats not including per diem which can be an extra $200 to $500 every four wks. The jist of it is if you choose to only fly the min 75hrs then yes you will be making $16000 plus your per diem for the first year. I love to fly and am always picking up hours... I fly 85-95hrs and I am in my first year here, and make well over that. It does take a little footwork on your part to pick up hours on reserve, but once you get it things will be easier. I picked up 36 hours one mth thinking they werent going to fly me on my reserve days... boy was I wrong... I flew 100hrs that month. That was a very pretty pay check. |

-The SAABs will be flying out of LGA and since Delta does not want to have SAABs doing their routes, it will not be for DL. There are multiple airlines that we have a possibility to fly for as a connection carrier. -As far as you not having any training, that does not matter. If you have the customer service experience then that is a plus. |
