Born2Fly in Newport, Kentucky said: I was a flight attendant out of LAX and ORD. I have old NW friends that live in DTW that are able to assist me with this. Moving to DTW while on Reserve is not a problem. CVG is only a 4 hour drive from me, on my confirmed days off I can go to my home in Cincinnati. I know the perks and horror's of flying, DTW should not be that bad really. Thank you for the insight though. Thats good. So, why not fly with another airline like Republic? Virgin? US Airways? Continental? They pay more and are more organized. |

Mesaba is not a bad company to work for but there are a few negative things about the job (the merger and crew scheduling are my only complaints). We have no guarantee that we will still have jobs once the merger is complete so that is a little scary. But, since they are hiring another group of people it seems that it all might work out. Crew scheduling is not the best. When you're on reserve they pretty much control your life. Since I was the last class hired, I'm at the bottom of the seniority list so I'm called ALL THE TIME, while the person who is just one spot above me rarely gets called out. You think crew scheduling would sometimes call others on reserve and stop working the same people, because it's making us want to quit from being overworked. But, the job is not horrible. I have seen some amazing sights that I would have never seen if it wasn't for this job. Plus, a great crew can make the experience even more fun. |

SkyHighFA in Elgin, Illinois said: Actually, I just recieved a call from Iris to do my drug testing and finger printing for the April 20 class. She informed me that Thursday is the absolute last day to have it done in time for the April 20 class...so if you are waiting to hear about your class date and are not tested and printed by this Thursday (3/19), then you are probably looking at the next class. Hey! I interviewed with Mesaba in DTW and asked to do a f2f the next day. they told me of the training dates, pay, etc. they said they would call me in a week with the decision or not. do they honestly call within a week. i felt like i did very well during my interview. i have previous flight attendant experience and they seemed to have liked me alot. |

Reality check..if you are over 6 ft dont waste your time. They measure you at the door before you even get to sit. |

Actually if youre taller than 5'7 dont waste your time. Those planes are SMALL! The Saab is not a plane for anyone taller than 5'7 unless you dont mind hunching over and/or hitting your head all day. |

I just flew back from MSP yesterday and signed my paperwork and completed my background check/drug test. I know there is a class on 24OCT11 and I am hoping they put me in that class. They said the class is full, thy said I am on the top of the list If someone drops out before training begins. What are the odd's someone calling in and not accepting the position? Do please decide not to come last minute? I flew before with another airline and had a spot in the class. I really hope I get into the 24OCT11 class. |

DLconnectionFA in Memphis, Tennessee said: @flying high. Feel free to ask any questions here on the forum. If you have questions so does everybody else. Thanks. :) Hello DLconnectionFA. I recently flew up to MSP from CVG to complete paperwork, drug test/fingerprinting for the FA position. I was told that I am on standby for the 24OCT11 class. What are the odds that someone will not show up or resign before training begins? I really want the opportunity to being ASAP. Thank you :) |

I packed everything that I could. If you forget something dont worry there is a walmart and khols(I believe) within walking distance. You'll be steps from a gas stations, Chillis and Wendys and the hotel shuttle will take you to the Mall of America. You ll be fine. As far as tips? Just study and participate. The teachers are really nice and I miss them dearly. The first day people usually wear suits. Skirt suits, Pant suits, and etc. |

What do you wear every day? lol Youll have your own room ...its an extended stay hotel that includes kitchen /bath(of course) and bedroom/living room and it also has a outdoor pool/ little gym and laundry mat inside.(Thats if youre training in MSP being that they are merging and the new training is in MEM so if youre in MSP then my info still stands). They will tell you what you should wear but for the most part business casual and some days you will be allowed to wear jeans. |

I was hired last month by Mesaba. SO EXCITED. I am on a wait for the 24OCT11 Class. I am hoping someone backs out. If not, I am hoping there is another class coming up. I will be DTW based. Anyone else on a waiting list? What are the odds of someone backing out. The last airline I flew for, everyone completed training and stayed with the airline for over a year. |
