Hopeful in Indianapolis, Indiana said: Hi all, I had a few questions.. I separated from the military 3 years ago and havent worked since because I was caring for my mother(breast cancer), she passed Jan 08 and I'm just now pursuing my dream of becoming a FA. Will the interviewer look negatively upon my employment gap? I would like to explain my situation to them but don't wanna give TMI. Hopeful, I was in the exact same situation leaving my job to care for a terminally ill parent. So not having worked in awhile and I didn't have any relatable travel or customer service experience on top that and I still got hired! So you have as good a chance anyone else. |

if after Republic, Shuttle, Chautauqua, North American, Trans States or Air Wiscosin hires a new flight attendant, do they just give u a urine test and fingerprinting, or a full physical? if each of these airlines do give a physical, do they include blood work as part of it? what do they look for in the blood? thanks |
|

Oh you know, the usual things in your urine ( what political party you are, if you like piña coladas and running in the rain, LOL). Seriously, it's just a UA, fingerprints for the FBI background check. |
|
tang in Indianapolis, Indiana 43 months ago |
a Sr FA, so it's just a urine test and fingerprinting, no blood work, right? and illegal drugs only, right? |

Don't answer her questions. She hops from forum to forum asking the SAME questions. She's not really interested in your answers, she's only here to annoy you. Just ignore her and she'll go away. |

Has anyone from the Oct 29th interview heard back from the company? And how late did the session run? We started at 9am and I was interviewed at 6:10pm and left directly after. |

Does anyone know if the FAs that are getting hired now and soon for the Republic side are STILL being put at the Kansas City base? Thanks for your trouble. |

Well thank you Zepp, I hope they do. I would hope to be based in MCI. I have heard that it's a great city. |

I filled out an online application Monday. I'm hoping to attend the November 18th Recruiting Event. Anyone know when I might hear back? How long will it take to be based in Indianapolis? Does anyone know what the best bases are if I want to regularly overnight in Dallas and is that even an option? People seem to really enjoy this job, but I would be taking a huge pay cut. How do you get by? Thanks for any advice! |

I'm also attending the open house on the 18th of Nov! Did they email you anything concerning your application? |
|
Undecided in Dallas, Texas 43 months ago |
No, not yet. I've seen some people say they heard back in a few hours! All I have received was an automated confirmation that they got it. |
|
MikeMCO in Orlando, Florida 43 months ago |
From what I have heard, they really don't email you back. You just take it upon yourself to attend. I am attending the session in Kansas City on the 11th. Undecided....I am originally from the Dallas area. I am going to head back there to visit my folks after I attend this event. I used to be a FA, so bases are up to the company. Wherever they need ppl at the moment, that is where you will be based. It can change a lot. It just depends on the company's needs. You will have different overnights mainly. There sometimes is a line where there may be more DFW overnights than others, but it depends. You get by, trust me. You have to work your butt off sometimes, but it is definately worth it. You have to want it because you love it. I used to make over 50k a year, but quit that job to become a FA. I would much rather do something I love, making less money, than doing something that bothers me, making more. :-) Best of luck to you all! |

All I have received was an automated response that they had received my on-line application and resume too. I indicated that I would not be attending an information session. However, am a former F/A with Delta. Hopefully that will help me. I live in Orlando and will not be able to make it to any of the sessions. Does anyone think that will hurt my chance? |

Reid.....I think you have to attend one of the sessions to be considered. I am driving up there from here in Orlando. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do if you want the job. |

I will be in Indy for Thanksgiving from the 25 through I think Dec 2. Are there any happening during that week? |

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do if you want the job. This is incorrect. If you fill out an application online, and they like what they see, they will call you and offer you an invitation to the session. This invitation of course includes a stand-by ticket to the event. I was at the event in Indy on the 29th, and they (Republic) flew more than 60 of us from many many parts of the US to the open house session. Hope this helps. Don't worry Reid, they will call. Especially if you were a former flight attendant. :) |

People seem to really enjoy this job, but I would be taking a huge pay cut. How do you get by? Thanks for any advice! Unfortunately as they don't have any bases in Dallas, you will not be in Dallas very often... You will mostly live at your assigned base, where you must pay for a crash pad... You will be able to go back home (to Dallas), on your days off... As for being based in Indianapolis... That may take a couple of months, as that base is currently not open. Best of luck with your interview... ;) |

There were about 60 of us there for the session! After the day they offered 9 of us a job. I am looking forward to hearing form them!! |

Are Washington,DC, Pittsburg, PA, Philadelphis, and KC, Mo. the bases that are currently open for Republic? Why do they close a base for awhile and then open it back up? Have they ever closed Washington, DC? Thanks for your time amd info. |

So anybody out there in the january 3rd, shuttle training!! Just found out today, thought i was going to be nov 29th class, but i guess they didn't have room, or it was to late to actually get placed in the class. Love to meet a few people before we actually embark on training. What a great start to the new year!! :) Love to hear from somone!! SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED |

wannab, ORD has a history of being pretty senior, but every base is hurting for reserves. So, you have a good shot of getting based there either initially or shortly after you're out online. ATL is becoming fairly overpopulated since a bunch of people from ORD transferred down to keep both their United benefits and Delta ones as well. I'll be interested to see where all these new hires go. Good luck! Just know that you'll get to ORD eventually and when you do, it's sooo worth it! |

Hey guys,
Also, I am a little confused with the talk of bases. Do we or do we not have to move to a different city; that is, get a new apartment? I am reading all this talk about people trying to stay close to home and keeping their apartment/house and I am confused because I thought we had to relocate no matter what. Thanks in advance to your answers. |

Hi Zepp, we got our bases today and there are about 30 left in our class. It was all split up and I would say that maybe 40% are going to MCI. We are graduating this coming Sunday. Thanks. Hope this helps. |

I actually filled in my on-line application and then saw where there was a recruiting event up in Ohio and just went to the event without even getting an invite. I believe if you wait for the invite, you might get transportation provided; however, since I was an hour and a half drive away, I decided to go. I ultimately398 got hired by Chautauqua and am currently still employed with the airline. |
|
Zepp in Kansas City, Missouri 43 months ago |
When I looked at the recruiting event info., it said there would be a presentation and testing. What kind of testing do they do?
