SA FA in Atlanta, Georgia said: Girl, you are are just like me, that is why I had to pre warn you about over packing. Whenever I travel, I always take too much with me. When I went to training for SA, I took entirely too many clothes. Clothes I didn't need. I even had shoes I didn't need. I do suggest you do take at least 2 pairs of jeans. Don't forget you jammies. I did take quite a few pairs of jammies for lounging around my room and hotel. If you need help let me know.

SA FA, How are you doing today? I hope all is well. I'm seriously taking your advised....I went looking for those hangers today at BedBathnBeyond and found them. I'm still trying to figure out how I will not go over 50lbs. I can't wait to hear Cleveland plans. I also see that you are in GA and wanted to know if you got your based that's if it was GA. Please email me at Pchaniesa@hotmail.com. Thanks again for the heads up!!!! We are all such wonderful team players on this site!

Look forward to talking to you via email.

dbsings4u in Louisville, Kentucky said: Well we all received our bases today. I was hoping for Louisville but I got St. Louis. Do you think they just mis-understood? :) It does sound a lot alike. :) Oh well, hopefully I won't have to wait too long before I get my hometown base. There were about 7 out of 21 that got their first choice and the shut down of Denver certainly had a lot to do with that because all of those people would have prior known in advance to have put in their bids outside of Denver prior to the decision being made for June bases and they had seniority over us. It will most definitely affect anyone getting ready to come to training as well, so I wouldn't get my hopes up about getting your first choice. St. Louis was my 4th choice.
It was really neat that one of the girls that did get her 1st choice was celebrating her birthday today, so that was certainly a great present. I think she's been on the forum, Kim from Houston.

We're off tomorrow and quite a few of us had a blast tonight at Buffalo Wild Wings. I think some of you know I sing or if you didn't you might have picked up on it by my screen name. Anyway, they had karaoke, so I got to SING! That certainly made my day. Well, I'm signing off for now. Blessings!

Hello dbsings4u,
I am so sorry u didn't get your base but the good thing about this is that you can bid every month. Another thing again is way to go, you n the rest have made it thus far. I am so proud of you guys....can't wait for our turn. Seems like it's creeping up so fast. Just the other day we were like gosh!! May 30th and now it's coming faster then you would think:)
So, I see you sung huh! That must have been so much fun...wish I was there to sing with you....ha ha ha
I also read where you had all those things and also how you were over your limit. Thanks for the advised as well, I'm taking all into consideration....but gosh, SA FA really got me thinking...

Hey Fab,

I've been away for the past few hours. Like you, I brought 4 pairs of new shoes and only wore one pair. On my off day(s), we went shopping and that didn't help things. When I came back my bag weighed 60lbs. WOW!!! They didn't tell me to re do my bags or anything. Do you know what airline you are flying on to Indy? Also, when I was in training, my whole class got ATL, but the class after us got scattered between the 4 bases for SA. Please keep in mind, if you don't get your first choice, you can keep bidding until you get it. Good Luck in training.

Hey Cleveland...i wish i could answer your question of the hairdryers, etc...however I am actually from Indy so I am not staying at the hotel. :( Our graduation is Monday! We took our last written test today..other than the final...we have 18 of 29 remaining...It FLEW by...i cant beleive we are already graduating on Monday, then i have my OE on wednesday.

For those of you waiting on republic:\

We were informed by our republic instructors, as well as the senior manager of inflight yesterday that as far as republic...there will not be any classes until July or August. Keeep your hopes up tho, because they might call u guys for those classes! Good luck to everyone about to go into training! :)

AMEN! NEVER, NEVER can you have enough shoes :). One thing to note is that they will let you get away with flats being worn with a skirt during training and on the airplane and flats can be worn with pants any time.

Oh yes, that would have been even more fun. As it was, I was the only one out of our group of about 14 there that night that sang, but we all got up as a group to sing the song "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks. I won't tell you why because it'll spoil the surprise for any Chautauqua people.

We had like 2 ppl that had some family issues they needed to be at home for, 3 ppl that showed up late for class, adn everyone else had used their 2 retakes and didn't pass whichever test after with a 90 or higher...its crazy how small our class is now..we lost 11 total..our final exam is tomorrow. We're also getting our wings, etc. :) We got OE schedules today and all that jazz...makes it all real! Its verrry exciting tho! Almost our entire class was based in Indy--12 indy, 2 philly, and 4 dc. They said ppl never get indy for republic but i guess with the whole Denver closing a lot of the FAs chose to go to Columbus, etc...works out for me and the like 6-8 ppl in my class that wanted indy for a base! Well...off to study :)

Ok, here's the scoop on me. I've stayed off the forum because I resigned from SA two weeks ago, and didn't want to bring anyone down. Also, I have a friend who is currently in training, and I didn't want her to know until after she had graduated - I was afraid that it would upset her. Carrie - You're too kind - thank you. No, it's not a secret. I was just unlucky enough to be one class too late to get based in ATL, and then a couple of other things happened that just piled up on top of one another and led to my decision to leave. I got hurt on my IOE, and by the time I returned home from that trip, I was also very, very sick (which they warned us would probably happen - I just didn't think it would happen to me. :) Anyway, scheduling was already contacting me to report back to IND, and in order to fully recover I would have incurred quite a few "occurences" in order to recuperate at home. They're very strict about missing days (even with a doctor's note), so I went ahead and resigned rather than have a tarnished work record and possibly be "let go" (which never looks good on a resume).

Oh, no - not airsickness. Apparently it's not unusual to pick up viral infections when you're new. You're in that enclosed space with all of those people, you're handling their cups, etc., and it's the perfect time to catch something. Plus, your immune system is a wreck from the past 3 weeks of stress from training, so you're a walking invitation to every germ out there. I actually got sick the day before my last trip ended, and by the time I was finished, my ears were completely stopped up and I couldn't hear a thing. I still had to deadhead home from NY, and knew that I shouldn't fly (for fear of blowing an eardrum), but you know how it is when you're sick - you just want to get home, so that's what I did. The pain was excrutiating - lesson to be learned - NEVER fly when you're congested.

Hey RJ,

Like you, I got extremely sick and was off from work several weeks. That was one occurence. As long as you call out before your trips or advise them you will be off for whatever trips and let them know you will be faxing a doctors note, that would be one occurence. Like you, I resigned from SA. Everyone that is going to training or hope to be going to training, SA is a great company and you will do well. I had other things going on and I too, chose to resign. I wish everyone the best of luck and keep those heads up while in training.

You go girl!!! I'm with you this forum is all about "POSITIVE" and "ENCOURAGING". So all "NEGATIVITY" and "DISCOURAGEMENT" STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel quite sure that if they were cancelling our May training classes they would inform those of us whom are scheduled for training first!!!

Kudos Cleveland..........Can't wait to meet another positive soul.
