Actually spreadyourwings is right on with the description of training and the hotel. They used to house them downtown but I'm guessing they switched to a more remote location for focus reasons. Training is HARD and do not take it lightly but still have fun. The instructors are great and truly want you to succeed. Pay attention in class and do your homework. Study every night and you will be fine. It's a lot of content in a short amount of time but totally worth it so far. I'm right in the middle of training right now..first day off tomorrow! :) Good luck to all of you! The more classes the better so I can hold a line quicker!! Lol

yea...I know how you feel..they won't send the packet until about 2 weeks prior to your departure..sometimes they send it a little sooner, sometimes its less than 2 weeks..they dont want you to have anything any sooner..I will say this..."anything you can do to find out anything online to start getting info start now!" Dont wait until you get the packet..you will be glad you did trust me..the packet is a very small taste of what is in training..the more time you can put into it now..and learn anything and everything you can possibly find to start getting your brain in gear that's what I would be doing..hope that helps!

Im going to the May 26 class, when i got the invite to training, I emailed them back right away, and the recruiter emailed me back the same day confirming the class i was going to be in, but that was my experience, Im not sure how that normally works because it looks like someone on here said otherwise.

You're on 2 or 3 different airline forums here bashing the entire industry. Some airline are better than others, but what's with the negativity and false info. I've worked as a flight attendant for several years and have never once encountered bed bugs OR gotten sick. Your comments smack of sour grapes. Were you fired from a FA job?

I will also be in the May 26th training class! Can u believe we have less than two weeks left!!!

When I got my invite I too emailed them back and received a response within an hr or so with confirmation of a class date. I would say if you haven't heard anything from them by now you really should call and verify that they got your email so u can know what training class you will be in.

Sorry, but I have yet, another question. Has anyone ever attended the class training and failed? If you do fail or are removed from the training are you able to apply again for the SkyWest 6 months later?

I have a dilema and so many of you on this board are knowledgable, so hopefully you can help me. When I first applied online, I, for some reason thought there was a midnight deadline to submit my app to receive an invite to the last OH SkyWest was having. I have had quite a few jobs. Some of them just being temp jobs to earn extra money to pay the bills. I had a hard time remembering exact dates of my employment at some of my jobs and was unable to submit all my jobs on the online app because there were no more options to continue adding from what I remember. So fast forward. I receive an invite to the OH and have to bring a resume which I did not have. In the process of trying to build my resume, I learn that I can go to the SS office and get a print out of my employers from the last 10 years. So, when I get the print out I notice that there are descrepencies in my employment dates from a couple of my jobs that i had put on my app. One employer that I worked for, for a few months is not even listed on my SS print out. I never even received a W2 from this employer, which does not surprise me because the Sports Bar has since been closed down because the owner was arrested for smuggling drugs, so it makes me think that if they were doing illegal things like that I wonder if they even submitted their employees info to SS. I know I filled out the proper paper work along with a copy of my CDL and SS card. I listed every job on my resume that was on my SS print out, but I do not know what to do about this one employer that I listed on my app that is not showing up on my print out and what to do about the descrepency in the actual date of employment. I have a clean record. I have never been arrested and have only had one ticket my whole driving life. I am afraid that when they do the background check and see these descrepencies that they will remove me from the training. I wonder if I should drop out of the training to save myself the humiliation.

no,no, no..don't drop out..however keep in mind if youh have something on your driving record that is an alcohol offense you may have a problem getting your passport unless you already have your passport, then its not an issue with your passport..but might or might not be with the airline..
I can empathize with your worry. My suggestion is to go online and try to do an update on the application if it will let you, just try and make it as accurate as possible. Try and make the resume compatible with your work history i.e. same line of work although you may have various jobs..hopefully they are near the same line of work. Also, think about why you left the employers outside the one you mentioned above that is out of your control..but as to why you have several..think about why they are that way..is it a reflection of the employer that you changed or was it you..that's my idea of what to focus on..just keep working it..if your record is good in other areas..then Im sure you will be fine.. hope that helps!!

When someone is released its totally up to mangmt if you qualify for a 2nd try or not..its all individual depending on each circumstance as to why the individual is being released. Its not automatic to try again in 6 months. That's why its equally important to do what the packet says and adhere to other parts in addition to passing..a person may pass their exams, but yet get released because of attitude or something else, just do your best, that's all anyone can do..don't worry..focus on being positive, don't focus on worry..

Thank you spreadyourwings. I never thought about updating my application. I have talked to a few othe people that worked at this Sports Bar and Grill the same time I did and they never received a W2 either. I will have to keep checking with the IRS. It has been a real pain. I do have my passport already. I have never been arrested. The only thing on my driving record is a ticket for talking on my cell that was about 2 or 3 years ago. Most of the reason I have more than a few jobs is because a few of them were seasonal type jobs for extra money. But i explained all that to the recruiter. Thanks again

ok, sounds like you got everything covered.Your further along than I realized, I miss read it. So if all your doing is waiting to go to training, then your set. Don't worry about the misc. discrepencies..they are minor compared to what they are looking for. I think your fine, don't even think about quitting..be positive, don't worry yourself on anything, that's the worst thing anyone can do, and focus on moving forward to your great future! Good Luck!

Hello!

I believe I will be attending the June training, first they are sorting out my background check and then I will get my exact date of when I will go to training.

My questions are...has anyone heard if there is a July training class?

And are Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo/Santa Maria very hard to get based in as new hires? Which of the California cities would be easier to get as a reserve?

The training packet is ONLY what they want you know for the first day. It's not that much information. You'll be fine I promise. I go to the training may 25th. I memorized the stuff the first knight I got it which was a week ago. Just relax!

Exactly what does that consist of? is it just picking up a bag or being able to lift it above your head? or what?? I'll be in training soon and I would really love to know is that part pretty tought or what? thanks so much anything helps :o)

I have a friend that is going on the 25th. You need to study the 24 hour clock. Terms and definitions, acronyms and abbreviations and States and Time Zones. Then you will have to pass with 100% accuracy on the EMB 120 taxi announcement. You will get all of this before you go to training.

Did she do her finger prints and background check before going to training? This all so new to me. I have never been a flight attendant before.

I will be going to training on Thursday. SkyWest does this process a little bit different than most airlines. The finger printing/background check, drug and agility tests are done on the first day of training after you complete and pass both your written exam and your pre-taxi announcement.

All I am stating is what is written in the email they send to you when you receive your training packet. The email states that all of this will be conducted the first day of training. They might do things differently once we get there but I was going by the email I received.

here is my suggestion for you: I highly recommended to go on their website..find the aircraft they fly..learn what you can on the aircraft, search on the internet for the details..just start learning whatever you can online anything and everything will help...including terminoloy of anything related to interior of the aircraft, procedures airport security everything.. BE PROACTIVE and use All the time you have towards learning before you leave and start diciplining yourself to study for LONG periods early am and late pm use every moment you can studying now..you'll be glad you read this..
