A phone interview is the first step? How about pre-screen documents? Do you get those documents only if you pass the phone interview. I will appreciate any comments. |

Sweetheart23 in Columbus, Ohio said: Hi Sarah! Training is not very hard but I would be lying if I said it was easy. I have to admit that I was stressed the whole time. Its just that they throw a lot of information at you and you have little time to absorb it. Not to mention that you have to get a 70% on each test to pass. If you fail it ,they will send you home.memorized. As far as overnight trips, you’ll go anywhere they need you. Let me know if you have any more question. I would love to help. : ) Dear Sweetheart: Can you tell me a little bit more about about the reserve schedule, is it like 2 to 3 days you work then off, then one day you work then one day off.
|
|
NotSweetheart in Charlestown, Massachusetts 5 months ago |
--Lunatica0809: reserve schedule have a minimum of 10 days off per months, usually you are on reserve 5 days (14 hours per day) and off 2 days; but sometimes you might be on 4 days, off 2 days, on 5 days, off 3 days... days off are calendar days, so midnight to midnight, which means you most likely will have more than 48 hours off when you have 2 days off.
Reserve can be for a few months or... quite longer. It's hard to predict, it depends on the base and how many people are getting fired-quitting-being hired at that base. If you add the merger factor, who knows? Benefits were available the first of the month following your date of hire when I got hired (i.e. start training in December, benefits starts January 1st). Maybe it changed since then... I am not sure. A few things changed with the merger, I wouldn't know about that. Also, more than ever before, flight attendants are sent away from their base for reserve, this is something to consider if you are planning to stay "home". |

Thank you so much!!!!! Can they ask you to work any of those 10 days off? Or they won't touch them?? Do they give you the schedule with time or they let you know a week before? |

Do NOT let anyone mislead you! You will NEVER have more than 10 days off if you are on R. The company owns you, and treats you like you are inhuman. The cheery responses about reality here are from the new people that have not gotten sick from the treatment. Every time a new person comes rolling in out of training, with "I'm gonna see the world" eyes, I say the same thing: give this person 5 months....they will hate how they are treated and realize things are not how they understood it. As far as having the kindness of knowing you will have a res trip a week before? Hahahahaha if they give you the required 90 min advance notice, consider yourself lucky.....24 hours tops! The job and crews are great....the many chiefs you answer to are pitiful! The Schedulers with kindergarten diplomas are given authority to treat you like an animal. Other real airlines are hiring....try those! |

Wow, very negative review about this airline. I was thinking about applying for a flight attendant position. Unfortunately, I had read so many negativities...I will try other airlines. |

I haven't noticed that attitude while sitting in the crew room. Most people seem happy to be there, happy to have a job, and ready to start their next leg. Betting most other crew rooms are similar... Of course there will always be people that are unhappy and want an audience. You should interview and form your own opinion, if nothing else it's great practice for the job you do finally secure. |

Do you have untouchable days off during reserve? or the 10 days off you will also be expected to get a call to come in? |

Colgan is actually great. Bryan has been heading up inflight now for a few month, and he is making good changes, and takes good care of the FA group. The Regional Managers, Marc, Kathy and Diane, are very good at what they do. I am very happy here. |

Some people got a phone call but i didn't i got the email for the pre-screening open house, went there and did a little overview, where you go to the front and introduce yourself,etc..then they put out a list of people who made it to the individual interview round and then once the interview is done, they let you know right there if you are hired or not. Everything was done on the same day. I dont know if they will host an open house soon :( |

I am wearing a black suit (slacks/jacket), low black heels, and probably some kind of color on my shirt (gotta have some color). I heard dress conservatively through the Continental forum, so I am using that info to go by on this one. I have heard wear a watch also (I have a hello kitty watch, but I think that may be a little over the top) so I will probably go buy an inexpensive one for the interview. Light make-up, lipstick/gloss, and nice clean hair style. |

Hi everyone! Can someone tell me little bit more about being on home reserve? I live 4 hours from the airprt I'm interviewing for tomorrow (IAH) and don't think I could make it in the 90 mins required. Unless I was for sure going to fly-out (get paid). I'm just really wondering if I should drive all the way to Houston tomorrow, only to find out it's not something I can do. I know Colgan know's I live in Austin, so I'm curious as to why they invited me anyhow.. Unless of course they don't care?? Thanks in advance:) |

Thanks in advance:) Home reserve is just that you are home on call for 12 hours and you have 90 mins to get to the airport if you are activated. There are FAs that commute from other countries so it doesn't matter how far you live. You would have to make yourself available when you have to work. You could stay with someone or in a crash pad but its your responsiblilty to be available. Good luck. |

honestly I don't think they care.. but also when you are a flight attendant and work work out a base like IAH they would want u to live within driving distance… wherever you get located you would have to move there at your expense. |

If you don't get to the airport within 90 minutes you get a missed trip. Two missed trips and you're fired. This is a very popular crash pad: www.fuselodge.net/ |

Pinnacle (Colgan's parent airline) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is suspending all Saab and Q400 United service over the next few months. This will end ALL Colgan flights, so don't apply now. |
