Hello and thank you for your time. I want to start off by saying how much I appreciate finding this forum and those of you who have given productive advice. After nearly seven years as a shipping manager I was dismissed and I took a entry level position as a freight broker three months ago. I have been struggling but am unwilling to give up because I know I can make this work and I see the potential. However I am not impressed with the company I am working for. Let's just leave it at that on a public forum for the time being.
I have a few customers. I am currently being paid 45% straight commission with a small cell phome credit and half my medical insurance paidafter the first 90 days. They do not allow a agent to work from home and I want to find a broker with a good industry standing who will let me do that. I hate the commute and the cramped loud work environment.

I have a resume I can email you. I am in Texas.I have a home office with computer, internet, fax, copier, cell etc. I think all I would really need is at least a dedicated fax and another phone line on my end. From you I would need a good industry rateing, established MC# and good pay history, access to posting boards, established carriers, a little guidance on quoting (which seems to be a current issue) and maybe a little more free advice for a while.
I'm giving up on this and I am not going away so let me hear from you if so far youthink we are a good match.
Thanks everyone.
J.M.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get started in the freight brokering business from home? I have been to a freight brokering class, but I don't yet have experience. I have researched various logistics jobs and it seems nearly impossible to get into this field with little experience. I have my home office all set up and ready to go, but I need advice on where to begin. I understand the basic concepts, but am ready to get started. I know several guys who own their own trucking company that say they would use me once I get everything up and running! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I am a recent graduate from Indiana Univesity with much sales experience. I formerly interned for a prominent loadboard and am looking to get into the brokerage business. I have a lot of contacts in the industry and know how the process works, just looking to become an agent for a reliable company.
