Will someone please help me to get started as a freight agent. I do not have any money to go to school or classes. I live in Grimesland N.C. A while back I talked to a man here that works for Landstar and he said he would train me but everytime I tried to call him and set up a training day he just blew me off. He clames to be making lots of mad money working from home and he said it was so easy a kid could do it but will not give me the time of day now. Someone help me get started. Thanks form Grimesland N.C. |

It cost $350.00 you'll also need to get a surety bond, $10,000 is the requirement in order to get the MC#. Bonds are a little more difficult to get these days, but you may be able to get one thru your bank. You may think this is the hard part, it's the easy part. Now you must find shippers and carriers and then you have to figure out rates to move the freight. Sometimes the shippers will just tell you what they're willing to pay, which makes it so much easier to to work with then second guessing what they're willing to pay. Now you have to find the carrier and negotiate the rate. I think a person could make money from home doing a freight brokerage, but you have to find the shippers and carriers first and getting loads every week can be a trying experience. Being told "NO" fifty times out of fifty-one calls (cold-calling) can put a damper on your day. It's tough out there, but if you stick with it people will get used to you calling them, and thats what it takes, constantly calling people. Good luck to you in your venture. |

You can NOT make 3,000 to 5,000 dollars per load, even if you do know what you're doing. You're trying to take someone's money to supposedly teach them brokering. I've been in the business several years and I've never seen that type of money being made, what're you having hauled, gold? Oil? Gasoline??? |

I think they mean gross not net That the kind of person I want training my agents ...give me that number !! One of those I can not get customers can not book freight so I will be a trainer . Been around a long time see em come and go why Train your competition but than again the teacher is not booking freight so they have to teach to pay the bills... They will spend all the time teaching slip up , screw up a load and their customer will be mine ....Trouble is most people that go to theses schools do not have the skills to make it anyway ....I had a guy tell me one time that he should have stood in his front yard and burned the money he spent to go to school .. he would have felt better .....Just wish I knew where all the top guns are ....selling real estate ....Like to find one |
