i'm a regional truck driver looking for a different career path. i'm very interested an becoming a freight broker agent. my question is should i become an independent broker or work for a company. also, what companies are willing to train and hire rookies.

well I've traying to have the opportunity to start in this bussiness I have 17 years experience on transportation all my family are truckers I took a course and I have read books about this job but I think the best way to learn and do the job well is starting with someone that already have enough experience.

Before you jump in make sure you know what your getting into. alot of these companies will teach you everything you need to know for a price.And usually you will be in the same boat you were before you started. there are other avenues. Hello Everyone,

My name is Rey, I am retired Navy and working as an operations manager for a very small trucking company. I learned a lot in this business, and contracted quite a few local business for the company to push shipper's products. But the company is small and not making enough money to pay for fuel and would like to be a agent for someone else on the side. And there is still a lot of companies that call me to help them push their product but I can not because I am not a broker. I am willing to work with a good broker that will give me free will to book a load and have a truck company haul it. I do not need to make that much money, even though I know the profit is good. So if anyone can take me on, I am willing to bust my A** for your company....

I'm ready to be a freight broker agent. I have had some training. I have purchased a fax machine and have targeted some shippers that may have freight to be moved.
