When a agent work under a broker can he use his own Company name. |
|
BrokersBuddy in Blaine, Washington 5 months ago |
Depends on the contract that he signs with the broker. Ask the broker you are working under, they will tell you if they allow that or not. |

I have been in the Trucking business for over 20 years, I am a carrier and recently acquired my Freight Brokerage license. If anyone is interested in becoming a freight broker agent, I will be glad to have you work with us. As long as you enjoy sales and relate well to others, you should be good to go. I will provide the basics in the business and the rest will develop along the way. |

trishb in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania said: Thanks for the advice. My problem is that I can not accept any loads because I am not with the company yet. I just need verbal commitments with these people that they will let me help move their loads and then once I've gone through orientation I can begin accepting loads to move. I have called various companies already trying to get my 5 contacts and I have either sounded like an idiot because I did not have any idea who I needed to speak with, or I spoke to the right person and had no idea what to say to them. I think once I get my contacts and go through orientation, I will have no problem with posting the loads, it's just getting contacts that's the problem. What if they already have an agent that they work with, do I try to get them to go with me instead or just say thank you for you time and move on? To be honest if that is your "starting point" You could be in WAY over your head.

why don't you just find one of those sites that has actual shippers posting loads? |

I haven't seen a school yet that can really teach someone how to be an broker agent. All I have seen is how to bring down the industry. I am not saying not to teach and train people the business but I think that brokers need to be truck owners or small fleet owner, this keeps the rates high and in market so that the companies with the real investments get a proper return instead of discounted rate. I not downing brokers here just untrained one's about 50% of my business is broker based but they own equipment also so the rates on there freight is inline. I have looked at some of the broker boards out there and freight at 1.25 per mile just ties freight up from a qualified carrier till the customer relies that the broker can't move it then calls the more expensive quote and freight gets moved during that time trucks had to leave the area just raising there operating cost while some yahoo that has nothing invested hasn't lost anything. |

Whoa! This place is turning into a brawl. Yikes! Did you guys see that the national average of diesel went up to 4.723 (based on the DOE)? The subject has me a bit perplexed. What happens if it goes to $7 a gallon? I'm curious...is anyone using these skyrocketing fuel prices as vehicles to better their relationships with shippers or prospective shippers? Seeing as the thread started out about cold calling, is anyone working in this subject on their pitches? Food for thought... |

It is a good pitch just toss it about gas and there ride to work this way it relates when you hit them with your rate. |

You will see that most of the **shipper** works with more then ONE Broker. Just try to prove that you can do the job **Better** then the other one, with better quote, and services. |
