I have experience in brokering dry and refrigerated freight. I we want to move in to heavy hauling. What prior knowledge would I need to approach a company for loads (permits, escorts, trailer configurations including 7-, 10-, 13-, 14-, 19-axles)? What questions would I need to ask the shipper? What are typical accessorials and ranges? |

Also, how do I rate the freight? |

I am interested in becoming a freight broker agent. I work as a shipping supervisor for a very large tomato packing warehouse now and have access to many buyers and shippers. I would like to know what I need to do to get started. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.. My number is 813.516.1939 and my email is Beach_Kowboy@yahoo.com Thanks |

I would not recommend moving heavy haul freight (especially the axles you're talking) if you don't have experience. The questions you have asked indicate that you don't have the experience needed to move this type of freight. I have moved 13, 18, & 19 axle loads and made as much as $25K profit, but if you don't know what you are doing, you can be paying that much out of pocket for mistakes. |

I have always wanted to get into the Heavy Haul part of the business but never had the contacts. Been brokering for six years and dispatched for the nine years prior. I have an associate who all he moves is heavy haul and going by the house he ust built, has done very well with it. Maybe one day I can get into it.... |

Have you inquired within to see how you can get into it, or is it limited to a few people? You can e-mail at loadatruck@yahoo.com with a phone number and I will call you. |

Just always been something I wanted to learn. If its only a selct few that they let do it, i will just run it thru someone else if/when I get to the point of moving some of it. |
