Freight Agent

I have worked in the trucking industry for several years running tankers,FL,LT,and Vans. I have also worked as a freight broker. The problem I am having is at this time I only have a few customers, and most companys want you to have $60,000+ in sales right off the bat. Where can someone like me who has the know how and is willing to build a great customer base and buisness get the oppty to put their skills in place?

First check out everyone you deal with and then start searching Read and ask questions. don't sign up for anything till you have checked out all training. Call and interview each there are some companies training new agents In your search engine put freight broker and check freight brokers web sites to see if they are hiring and training new agents. Google their information call them just check check etc if you want to find out more of what an agent does you can find that out for free too.

I too have an interest in becoming a Freight Agent/Broker. My father was a Freight Broker most of my life. I have been in sales for the last 10 years. I have talked to several people, but all were wanting experienced Agents/Brokers. Were you able to get going in the right direction to try and get a start in the field?

Basically, people are looking for an agent with some shippers. You can always get the "prospects" without too many issues. You can atleast tell them that you have "prospects" but you need their information to turn them into shippers. I also have a lot of leads. Call me and I will get them to you.
