They treat they driver very well I had a driver running for me making $6000 or more per week with stepdeck . the support group for the agent in the midwest needs a lot of work , Landstar is more concern with the bigger agency like inway and gemini who have been around longer than ranger . but on the other end they did help me get me a high level security clearence so I'm Sir, you write this huge tirade about how you were ripped off by this large brokerage and why everyone in the world should know about it and how they are completely at fault and ramble on and on and then later you tell us who the company is? This board is not about slander, but about solutions! People like you should not be on here. Make your case, spell correctly and don't publicly slander people or companies. I am a competitor to Landstar, but that doesn't mean that I can use this board to say what I think about them. |

Sir it is not slander it the truth I dont have time to go back and fourth with you about landstar or any other company I took the time to read every blog on the page ! I'm in heavy haul and could care less about landstar ! they dont follow up and I have the paper work to prove it . Now if you are doing well there then god bless you ! and unless you own this web page then it's a free country as long as I keep it clean . I thought I pointed the good and the bad of working for a large brokerage and pointed out landstar only when a landstar agent made a statement that was far from the truth and if the truth offends you then that is to bad ! this a fact I'm with a smaller brokerage and doing very well thank you ! as for the spelling I thought That I corrected everything . you have blessed and productive day !!! |

That's very interesting, but how did you get the email to the traffic manager at these places? Did you call and ask the gatekeeper? Inquiring minds want to know. What happens if it's not on the corporate website? Do we just broadcast to a generic email address? Does it then find its way to the traffic manager? Thanks for your expertise. |

To whom it may concern; I am a free agent looking for an opportunity. I recently went for training and I am trying to build a customer base, however without the right backing it's becoming rather difficult. Do you guys provide leads or sourcing direction etc?? I have a complete home office, two phones, a direct fax, e-fax, two computers, file cabinets and i'm located in NJ. I can drive to any potential client if needed. I'm young, hungry, motivated and will not fail! Please send me an email with your response. Thanks A.O. |

Hello Everyone, My name is Rey, I am retired Navy and working as an operations manager for a very small trucking company. I learned a lot in this business, and contracted quite a few local business for the company to push shipper's products. But the company is small and not making enough money to pay for fuel and would like to be a agent for someone else on the side. And there is still a lot of companies that call me to help them push their product but I can not because I am not a broker. I am willing to work with a good broker that will give me free will to book a load and have a truck company haul it. I do not need to make that much money, even though I know the profit is good. So if anyone can take me on, I am willing to bust my A** for your company.... |

Most of the brokerages use the "quick pay" as a profit center. Most will charge between 3% and 5% for this option. As a carrier one should always know the terms and option before accepting the load and take this into account. As a broker looking for a company to work for/with, you must also take this into account because if the pay terms aren't favorable to the carriers your job becomes more difficult. There are a few companies that pay quickly standard (24hours) and therefore truck availability for thier brokers is good, (very important when trucks are tight). |

We pay our top carriers net seven. They in return give us

Sydney Ann Adams said: why do brokers charge for quick pay... The answer is quite simple we do normal accounting processes (as every company does, direct shippers range from 15-90 days to pay the carrier or broker) to make sure the right money goes to the right places. It normally takes 20days to get paid in our cycle (which is good we have a great credit rating and a Gold Book member) if a carrier wants/needs money faster then they can have one of our accounting ppl take care of their load right away (as long as the carrier sent in the paper work) that takes them away from their normal task which there for, for that service comes a cost. ALSO PROFIT ever hear of a factoring company, they do only one thing quick pay a broker or carrier then collect the money later and most charge 8% (I believe at least, we have never used one). I hope that helps answer your question. |

What is the best way to get Truck Loads?
We are even approved for credit by some of LTL Carriers but we still are in the middle of no where in terms of finding the shippers? Everytime we run in to a shipper, they either have a better rate. Also what is the best way to find an LTL shipper? How can we get LTL? |
|
John Hodur in Naperville, Illinois 5 months ago |
Johnson in Chicago, Illinois said: What is the best way to get Truck Loads? Why would you start a brokerage if you have no shippers or even have no idea of how to find shippers? Just does not make much sense to me. |

jacob_w-logisticdynamics in Buffalo, New York 5 months ago |
Johnson in Chicago, Illinois said: We have all resources, but what we do not have is shipper! Personal opinion here but you missed the most important part. with out shippers to start you better have a bank roll to get you thru a few months because most good shipper (i.e. pay on time...) will not give you all their freight off the go it is usually one then two then five... loads until they feel comfortable with you. So it can be 30-60 even 90 days to have any good flow going form a fresh start. Two why should a shipper give you their freight? You better have a good answer for that if you want to get any freight. As far as ltl shipper stay away from big guys they will have deep discounts already in place you cant compete with. Go for the small and growing companies (yes they are out there). Full truck load go to thomasnet.com grab your phone and so nothing but cold call a min of 50 (MINIMUM) and in a few weeks you should have a shipper or two. Hope that helps. |

I am in business and have build some credit. Always pay on time and am willing to pay on time. Trying for the last 4 months and still have not given up. I want to enter in LTL market. I have paid all trucking companies always before 30 days. I am now having a very hard time getting Truckload shippers. Again is there still a scope in LTL Market?

jeff in Keller, Texas 4 months ago |
National motor freight classification guide. (NMFC)
The best way to get the class of the prospect freight is to ask them. It they ever do any LTl they will no the class and the NMFC #. They will also have a MSDS sheet for hazardous material.
Moving forward JR |

This is a SCAM and the person posting is in NO WAY connected to Ashley Furnituer that is based in Wisconson. if you recieve emails from this person, they are attempting to SCAM you and should be filtered in your junk mail. Being aware is so important and I would hate to see anyone getting scammed by this offer. |

Hello and good morning, I want to make a case for education. Yes I own one of those Freight broker schools and I have the on-line course that
We teach you to be consultants to both the carrier and the shipper. You give us a week and we give you a five year head start. About half of the people quit after 6 months. About 25% are making 40-60k and the other 25% earn over 100k. These are numbers are pretty close to exact because I have to get this information to the State and Federal Govt. The most asked question is what makes one person quit while the other girl makes 100K plus. It seems to me that the more adversity one goes through the stronger their will is and they are tenacious in nature. All the military does is train for missions. Day after day. Get a mission for your life and train for it. surround yourself with givers and positive people people. Also - In the Freight Broker Industry as in the trucking industry - We are moving into the industrial age and using technology that allows people to really work from home. |

I rarely agree with the competition as I also own one of those freight broker training schools but Jeff is correct. This is a business where you apply what you learn and either sink or swim. The swimmers are making excellent money. |

The only downside from joining Land Star or any of the major companies is you have put money into an escrow account/ Personally no one should be paying or having you put money into an escrow account to become an agent..

jacob_w-logisticdynamics in Buffalo, New York 2 months ago |
anotehr downside (from agents of the big companies that contact me) is that a ton of shippers are already "under" another agent so there room to grow is very limited. also landstar the best asset they have is their name, their worst asset is their name LOL everyone has an opinion good or bad on them already so it can make or break you. (watch out for those contracts when signing with ANY broker) |
|
Jason in Frisco, Texas 2 months ago |
Jacob is correct, also be careful when a company asks for quote UN quote experienced agents, must have books of customers or a customer base, once you join that company those customers are no longer yours- and even if you leave the company for some odd reason- you can't take your customers back for at least 6 months to a year, so be very careful when joining any large brokerage |
