FREIGHT TO GO in Laconia, New Hampshire

Hi all,

I started in the industry last Fall but had some setbacks. I took a freight training course for a week, and really had a good understanding of the business. I signed on with a company, and within 2 weeks started booking freight. Well that's when things started to go downhill. I was asssured this company had good financial backing, and back office support. I had several loads booked, but every time these trucks did a credit check, it would come back to them as a new company and they didn't want to risk doing business without a fuel advance, and/or half the money up front. I ended up losing several customers and good trucking companies due to this fact. Every time I would book a load it was something else. I got so fed up, that I decided to leave the business for awhile, and make some money doing other things. I really love the industry. Having been in business myself, I knew the hours were long, and often times you needed to multi task, and make changes on the fly. My question is this, do you think I could and/or should give it another whirl, or is the market so flooded right now that I should wait awhile?
Sorry to be so long winded, thanks for your help in advance!!!!

I too was in the business for almost 2 years but had to leave to take care of some family business. I am now ready to get "back in the saddle". I KNOW that I will be successful at this again. The problem is finding someone who is hiring right now. I plan to network where ever and whenever I have the opportunity. These forums are wonderful for that.....so.....if anyone is looking for a hardworking person to move their freight...contact me! I am the one!

I'm looking to get started as a freight broker in Arkansas. I've driven for a few of the major carriers in the past (and hated it), and my significant other is working as a dispatcher for a local company where we live now. We have seen a number of drivers, who have worked long term for this company, being laid off recently. I would love to be able to help these guys out by finding them some well paying loads to keep them afloat, and possibly turn it into something more lucrative down the road. I have plenty of time but not a lot of money to get started. I have 17 years of office/clerical background and want to put it to good use. Any suggestions on how to get started would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
