Cold Calling and generating business ideas

Hey Brokers out there:

I want to get your feedback and share some ideas on how you generate leads and new business in this industry. I would any information you have on cold calling and, if that doesn't work, what do you do?

I'll share one of mine: I use Icontact.com and add prospective clients to that database and send out an informational email once a week. Nothing sales like, just info about us or what can help their business do better, but I always put my contact info in there. I have generated about 10 new customers from that. Takes about 10 minutes a week.
