Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows of a company willing to hire a non-experienced person wishing to become a freight broker agent? Amazing!!! I have been following the forum for several days now just to get the idea of what a freight Agent needs, and 95% of the adds, and postings want you to be established with $$ qualifications and at least 4 active accounts. Most of the complaints are about the cold calling and establishing your accounts. No one seems to have any idea as how to go about this.
I suggest you work as a telemarketer for 3 months and get over your fear of the phones!! I am working as a hot lead establisher for a local agent, she pays me 10% of her commission on companies that I have referred her to. Sometimes its small, sometimes a pleasant surprise. I use a lead in script that she and I made up.
If I obtain fax number she sends them her packet and does follow up calls.
I make extra money and she gets the accounts.
My experience?? 10 years cold calling outbound for real estate agents, 3 years inbound calls booking real estate agents. When recession set in I started doing for my freight agent friend.
My next step is to become an agent and book freight. (See the parallel?)Point is no trucking or dispatch experience;but CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! Leads are not that hard, its the persistence and a smile in your voice.
