I just graduated before Christmas and in the master cosmetology program we are required to work the front desk, answer phones, operate a credit card machine, etc. It sounds like you have a decent entry-level position. Maybe you can research the salons/spas in your area and find those that appeal to you, then take your portfolio and go into the salons and see if you can find a better job. A classmate at mine works at a Cuts By Us and hates it too, she says she only makes a little over minimum wage. I guess we have to pay our dues though. Sometimes we can't always start off where we want to.
