I just wanted to hear what people have to say on this subject. There are comments in different threads about it, but I am wondering how much you think someones appearance factors in to be a successful hairdresser.

What do you think are the key areas?
Can you be unattractive?
Overweight?
For women, must you wear makeup?
What about skin problems?
What do you think YOUR hair has to look like?

Very interesting question. Since I am not a professional Hairdresser yet, I can try and answer this from a standpoint of the customer.
1. Question, I don't really know....
2. Question, nobody can really say, some people think you are attractive and other people think you are unattractive. It just plain depends
3. It depends on how much overweight. If it's to much, I personally don't really care as long as the hairdresser looks groomed.
4. make up is a must in my opinion, just don't "ice" it on
5. That doesn't make you a worse hairdresser, but can be a "turn-off" for some people
6. Your hair should always look good and healthy.
