* Interest in science and technology

* Good communication

* Comfortable using complex equipment

* Meticulous Attention to detail

* Good interpersonal skills

* Happy to work as part of a team

Just like any job area:

Appear eager to do the job but don't ask any difficult questions. Eager and gullible is more highly prized this day and age than many qualities. Be blindly obedient. Having a mind of your own will land you in trouble whether you're in a hospital or in a Fortune 500 company. Have a bland, generic, non-threatening personality. Unless you're in direct sales leave your true self at the door.
