How can I transport a disabled backhoe tractor using another backhoe tractor with no help, just me, by pushing the tractor. If I can't steer the lead disabled tractor, can I lift the front end off the ground and push it that way? Any one ever heard of doing so?

Contact your local operating engineers union and ask for some assistance. |

Jack knife your trailer and use a chain to pull over the neck and if you have two rubber tired hoes, then use the hoe on the live one to pull up the dead one, that way you will have the most power. Just make sure that you have the treailer and the dead one lined up straight with each other. I am not sure what an OE would know about loading machines, not their department. Good Luck |

Is all you have another back hoe? If you can use the hoe to lift it, or one end you may be able to treat it like a trailer. Although I hope you aren't planning on going this on public roads. You'd have to keep adjusting the hydraulics and all the ideas including mine sound like a really good way to have an accident where the other car's driver gets killed. Joe

Joe, thanks for the feedback. The operator used an operable backhoe to lift the front of a disabled backhoe using a heavy chain and was pushing (or towing?) the disabled backhoe backwards. This all happened at 11:00 oclock at night on a 4 laned highway. A pathfinder struck the tractors almost killing the occupants. Thanks. |
