Hi, at the University of Guelph we are carrying out research in the design of movaeable ergonomic armrest for joystick operated heavy equipment. Comments on the following topics are welcome: (i) occurrence of neck injuries among operators using joystick controls and the effect on productivity, (ii) real need for such an accessory in the operators' cabin seats, (iii) is the demonstration of reduction in neck muscle stress alone sufficient for operators, contractors to try the new accessory, (iv) what other control features dominate in inducing neck muscle stress? |

You should look at Simlog simulators for some input. They are in Cananda and make the simulators for CAT. Paul Friedman is the President, met him once a couple years back. Find them on the internet, I think under SImlog |

You can make a simulator chair pretty easy. |

Any other suggestion for potential collaborative work either with contractors or OEM is appreciated |

Take a look at CSE Software. They have a simulator branch that is now the only licensee for Caterpillar simulators. Simlog is a dinosaur compared to what CSE and Simformotion are doing for heavy equipment simulators at a reasonable cost. |
