Isn't there something that can be done about this? Its not right taking money knowing that they can't get jobs. Then you have to have experience which how are you suppose to get if nobody will let you work. I thought that going to these Heavy equipment Schools you would get a job after you completed the school. But after the school was finished they didn't care about you getting a job. Its a shame that they are allowed to have the school and then there are no jobs for the graduates and they have to pay all that money for nothing. It makes me very mad about this. |

I would like to know about the job placements after going to the ATS school because there aren't any jobs around my area where I live. If there are they aren't hiring or they want experience. |
|
hooverbl in Tavares, Florida 37 months ago |
My heart has nothing to do with it . It p----- me off big time knowing that they are taking money when there aren't jobs out there. And someone who has to say that I hope that you sheet every time you fart well I sure do hope that you have a healthy one each and every day . |

jus saying...there aint no work man havent you been reading the post on here and elsewhere? you just picked a bad time to go into it thats all if there was work you would have no problem getting in the seat but as far as now with it being this slow even guys like me with 20 years exper aret sitting at home thinking of other careers to do man believe me when i tell you its bad i havent seen it this slow since late 80s early 90s so yea you spent money to learn a trade and when theres work it will come in handy its like money in the bank just dont whine about it i just spent my last 5k on welding school and there aint no work for inexperience nowhere but i got my certs and eventually when all this bank bs is over it will pay off thats all and thats it dont get your panties in a bunch |

rick in Madison, North Carolina 37 months ago |
you got that right about the insurance companies here there trying to lobby for laws making all heavy equipment operators require a cdl to be insurable guess theres no more drinking beer from the tailgate after work cause a cdl holder can get a dui from .04 i wish these damn special interests groups would just go away and get this country back to the way it used to be,cant trust a damn soul now all politicians are crooked and all corporations run the real show |

Karl the heavy equipment guy in Winchester, California 37 months ago |
Fester,I get offers all the time to drive for England. You may want to check them out. Because if their wanting me to drive for them they must be desprite for drivers.Besides ,I haven't kept my cdl up for the simple reason of not needing it .This weekend I'm off to the California Festival of Home Brewers so my brain will be out of order for the weekend. You should go if you can.Have a good week my friend. |

If you want to get ripp off why don't you try the Oklahoma School of Construction in Oklahoma. It's the sorry ass excuse I 've ever got to go back to school. They rob me $7,000 just to learn HEO-I.There curriculum is pathetic and I've already knew half of it.You spend less than 8 hours during the whole course in a machine and the rest sitting in a classroom wasting your time learning the difference of an extension cord and a hammer.

@Raul Vega well said i paid $13,000 for school it has been since september and still no jobs.
so they deffinatly need to get exposed for what they are doing.

I have a rep in those states. I live in charlotte, North carolina but it was slow at the time. And to pass on, a pipe company always hires operators. But, you have to have patience. and a grading company will kill for a good grader man. so, i pass on some knowledge to you as well. If you are looking for work in those states i give you the person to call. I am 7 on the list to go back to Jones Bros Excavation. I work with them before. I trying to get back with them and finshed the season with them. |

I would like to know if any one would like to go for a class action suite against the ATS school? If you do just leave a note here for me. Thanks |

rick in Mayodan, North Carolina 36 months ago |
i would like to be a part of the class action ....did you have to go to ats? |
|
hooverb in Summerfield, Florida 36 months ago |
I did not go but my son did and he hasn't gotten a job yet nobody will hire him because he doesn't have experience but how do you get it if no one will hire you. When I get enough people I will start it. I have never done it before don't know how many you have to have to start it. I will talk to a lawyer this week about it and let you know. Thank you |
|
rick in Mayodan, North Carolina 36 months ago |
i can tell u this not to be discouraging but it is a really bad time trying to be a heavy equipment operator i been one for 21 years now and its very hard due to th economy and the bubble burst aint a whole lot of dirt moving right now |
|
hooverb in Summerfield, Florida 36 months ago |
I realize that its bad right now but then they should also know that with no experience you can't get hired out of the school. And they are still taking more people into the school knowing this is still going on. |
|
rick in Mayodan, North Carolina 36 months ago |
its not having no experience isnt the only factor when hirng someone its there attitude and if they have the determined look in there eye to get the job done whether they have grit is what i look for in a newb, are they gonna be good are they attentive enough to learn quickly and take being criticized with a grain o salt get along with other team members basic fundamentals of character that will make them a good operator one day are they worth the risk and investment every new guy is a serious liabilty because the equipment is so damn expensive to fix not to mention the money lost for it sitting there if they tear sh*& up there not worth it but if they can get it done quick without tearing things up or hurting someone they are thats really the measure of a good operator how much can you get done correctlywith little down time as possible and not have to redo it and you have to balance it being an operator u know how fast u can go if you start overheating u know u gotta slow down a lil and just run steady things like that they just dont teach in school and your prolly not the only one that has tried to sue them im sure they prolly have a good arguement up there sleeve well anyways good luck sorry ou had to find out after the fact |

Thank you If you are up to the task, you might research case law regarding "TruckMaster School of Trucking", Whittier, Calif. I graduated in May 1971 but could not get enough time in anywhere until I joined the Teamsters in April 1973. My brother in law tells me that TruckMaster was sued out of business by 1974 for promising work that did not exist. He does not know if it was the State or the students that sued but the fraudsters are gone. |
