Dirt Slinger in Bismarck, North Dakota

No shiiittt, what a switch that would be! Well I sure hope it does gain some momentum this spring. I dropped out of college three years ago for process plant technology because of my love for big iron and throwing dirt around. I was working full time laying pipe and running equipment when I got the chance, then doing online and night classes. Not feeling like the smartest move right now. We were fortuanate enough up here in ND to stay busy this year while it was slow elsewhere. Now it finally caught up to us. Oil drilling is hot though if anyone is looking for something like that. I'm gonna hit the rigs myself after the first of the year if nothing comes up.

Rick,
I have heard all this before. It's not just the republicans that are crooks,THEY'RE ALL CROOKS! There are very few up there in Washington that are working for you and me.I don't know about Bush,
but I have met and talked with Dick Cheney and I can assurer you the last thing he wants is to see this country on the same level as
Mexico or have a useless healthcare system like Canada.I have been
a member of a union and I have no problem with them until they start asking for too much. These big shots in the UAW are going to
end up hurting there own people if they don't give a little. My Dad
was a 35yr union member and he use to tell me "If you give little
you will get little,If you give alot you will get alot"

CHENEY IS THE BIGGEST CROOK OF THEM ALL WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Heavenly Father . . .

We come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil -- good' but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.

We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.

We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of speech and expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our Forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, And know our hearts today;

Cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your will, to open ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ.

all those things you mentioned are things liberals like Nancy Pelosi,Bill Ayers,Henry Waxman among many others support. You know,
The people who hate Cheney. You know ,The people who backed Obama.
Rick,Stop smoking pot! Stop listening to the news! Use the brain
God gave you and find out what's going on for yourself.Find out how Al Gore is flying around in a corporate jet(similar to the one
the GM execs flew to Wahington a few days ago) and is making MILLIONS off this global warming scam. All the while making millions off the interests in the COAL MINES that he owns, not to mention the nickel mine that he has on his own property.

global warming is a fact the question remains whether its man made or not i personal believe thats its the earths 25000 years cycle to warm and cool but what gore is making pales in comparison to what the dick and bush team have done to peoples constitutional rights might as well set the damn thing on fire and rewrite it,wait better not let em do that well really be screwed then but anyways the point is that i dont give a damn about how much an indivual makes thats capitolism but do not mess with peoples liberty and dont tread on me if you need to step on people to get rich you are selling out sorry but thats it dont stab your brother in the back so you can keep your job a little while longer you see what im saying? have alittle integrity if you lose your job for standing up so be it and walk away a better person for not selling out dont sell your countrymen out cause you own property on the 1-35 in crawford texas that will be worth a fortune if the superhighway is built people money isnt everything we have lost are way the last 10 years dammit its about living good, healthy, free of bulls$#@t and letting our kids have the same opportunities life is way too short man there will be a revolution before this is over there will be bloodshed, rich turned dirt poor, property and rights lost, families torn aprt

Global warming is not fact it is theory.Look man,if the local weatherman can't get a 5 day forecast right half the time, how can a bunch of eggheads (who 20 yrs ago said we were heading for another ice age) say whats going to happen in a 100 yrs.Besides
NASA released a report just this last year according to data picked up by there own satilites the average world wide temp DROPPED 1.2 degrees. If you want to see the figures go to Mike Church.com.As for the NAFTA super highway,Have you seen this for yourself? If you have, tell me what you saw.

as a matter of fact i have i rode my motorcycle cross country recently and ive seen alot particularly whats being built over i-40 where i-35 crosses a massive bridge just outside of oklahoma city now im no structural engineer by any means but the 40 is a major route and i 35 being the smaller highway wouldnt u think that the 35 would be a simple off ramps instead of a massive bridge going completly over the i 40 ? and infractrucure being beeffed up in this area like ive never seen for miles in both directions of this all the roads are being redone? why?theyre geering up for some major truck traffic and also the canamex highway hell they even got a website now as i stated before im a nobodt if im wrong noone will know or care but if im right we are in for some big change.....and by the way you kinda missed the point in the last comment the more important matter was people losing there rights and the country being more as 1 rather than devided and conquered not global warming or the trade highways

things being done outside of legal peremiters and congress by our president and vice is a serious conflict of interests dont u think?thats treason on that level.if i have business interests in a certain dealings and i hold a political office lets say the mayor of a town and i use my politcal influance for personal gain rather then helping my constuence and renige on why they voted me in thats no good but on a presidential level its treason especially when it involves other countries without congressinal approval and when u lie to the people thats even harder to swallow especially when u get caught with your hand in the cookie jar damn man you get it now?do not lie to the american people we are the most caring giving nation on earth dont decieve of or pass laws behind our back in a slick lawyer like fashion and then smirck on national tv haha good ole boy club sh^%$ people are tire of the bull its not democracy when elections arent reliable anymore we have a corrupt friends in high place, freemason, good ol boy club network for a government now we are all being played it is not by the people for the people anymore and it will take years to reverse it if it even can be if we really wanted a border fence in place it would be up in a year or even less they are foot dragging because they know that in a few years if they get there way there wont be a border it will be yeehaww free trade and screw the rest of us now no offense karl but u kinda live in a bubble from the rest of the country ive live in ca for the last 20 years myself but i frequent nc and everywhere in between and i would suggest getting out of ca a little more offten and i dont mean your annual trip to vegas and look around and pay attention and seek truth and you will see whats going on in this country as 1.2 million jobs go away in 1 year thats pathetic....yea im alittle pissed

tell us on the evening news the fundamentals of are economy are strong and 6 months later ask for a 700,000,000,000 bailout for his cronies a month befor he leaves office "so long suckers thatnx for the billions" and then theres the war which he squandered pallease..............this tyrant will go down as the worst president in history you see karl you seem to want to think that things arent as bad as they seem but they are now im all for being optimistic but you got to be realistic also and another thing that youve probly been conditioned to think is that its unpatriotic to question your government but in fact its very patriotic to keep them in check if our founders would have been sheep we would still be drinking tea and saluting the queen and more food for thought is that the cia is the most corrupt organization on earth and should be disbanded

O n the contrary Rick ,Questioning the government is absolutly the right thing to do.But make sure you have your facts right before you start flinging accusations.Lets start with NAFTA.The ball started rolling with President George H W Bush just before he left office. There were items in there he did not approve of,but being a
lame duck president there wasn't much he could do about it.Then came Bill Clinton who promised all of us that it would never come to be.Then he pushed it through. He could have stopped it but instead became its biggest advocate. And it was Barney Franks who first said that everything was alright less than a year ago,He heads up the house commitee that oversees allof it.HE knew and said
nothing! Its not the fault of just one or two men.A lot of this can
be traced back to the Carter administration.Like I said, look it up
for yourself, don't just trust what the news tells you or what political hacks on either side tell you.

As far as disbanding the CIA. Without spies how are we to know what our enemies are doing? Yes there may be some changes that are in order. But you don't cut off your nose in spite of your face. You haven't seen anything blown up inthis country since 9/11 have you?
Somebody is doing something right.I can tell you first hand,There are people out there who don't like us not because of who are president is, but just because we're Americans. They don't like the movies that come out of Hollywood, the cars we drive, the houses we have, our wet t shirt contests, our churches just pick a topic they hate it.But mostly,They hate our freedom. And yes there are people
in our government who want to take that away from us too.Do me a favor,Read Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto and see if you can find any similarities that are going on today

read the iron mountain report written in the early sixties outlining whats happening today especially interesting how the gov would need a catilyst to launch the war on terror similar to a pearl harbor event so you see there havent been any attacks since 9/11 because they were prlolly the ones that did it there are way too many coincidences to just leave to a bunch of cave dwelling towel heads read the 9/11 commision report where rice said that they couldnt have even imagined an attack like this but a year prior they trained for this exact same thing oh yea baby its a coverup on a grand scale, there will be another attack when they think that this one has wore off and the people arent scared of the terrorist anymore i fear the gov far more than any friggin towel heads u need to do a little research i think and wake from this trance your in as many sheeple are and dont even think that our cia could not have manufactured this event they are the best and most deceptive and good at it theyve perfected it

There are some things that you will hear about that are BS because
thet are made to be BS.I too have seen alot of this country,I grew up in the construction industry following my dad from one project to another from as far south as Yuma,Az to Fairbanks,ALASKA and points in between.I've been overseas for one reason or another,so I think I have a pretty good idea of whats going on.

Rick,
It sounds like you have done your research. I too am familiar with all the things you have mentioned in this thread. Unfortunately we live in a brain-washed society full of "Copenhagen dipping ,non-politically correct, heavy equipment operating for 30yrs,deer hunting, bass fishing, flag waving, former Navy redneck" type of people who worship their TV's and their Holy Bibles that are missing most of the pages. Its truely sad that we live in a society where informed whistle blowers are the crazies and the gun toting, bible clinching, Television-raised zombies are "normal". If people don't lose their ignorance and fear of reality, we will all become slaves to our government before you know it. All of our major media is scensored by the government at this point, and the only outlet left thats not under their control is the internet, but even that won't last forever. It's only a short matter of time before everything we see and read on the nets is filtered as well, look it up.. its in the works. By then their will be absolutely no hope of turning this great nation around. Say goodbye democracy, hello dictatorship!!!

for a coke smuggling ,dress staining, union back stabbing, murdering
Bill Clinton to pass. And I'll wait for my chance to vote out our new president.I prefer democracy over anarchy,Idon't know,I'm just

Wow.. intelligent reply there Karl! Pat yourself on the back for that one. The problem is you confuse the word "country" with "government". They are NOT the same thing. The US is the greatest country in the world; on the contrary, the US government is one of the most corrupt in the world. People like Rick and I are more patriotic toward our country than you ever thought you were. America was founded upon anarchy Karl, not Big Government. You "my friend" don't know your american history very well. The freemasons took what was once the "land of the free" and gradually developed what we have today. An elitist controlled nation where the wealthy help the wealthy, and poor remain poor. The trickle down effect is a joke. As for your remarks about Clinton, thats your ill-informed opinion of the man, but to most people with rational thinking, he did more for the majority of the people in this country than any man with the surname "Bush" has.

I choose the turd sandwich. You can rest asure that things things

A terrorist attack on American soil of the size and nature of September 11, would lead ---according to former CENTCOM Commander, General Tommy Franks-- to the downfall of democracy in America. In an interview in December 2003, which was barely mentioned in the US media, General Franks outlined a scenario, which would result in the suspension of the Constitution and the installation of military rule in America:

"[A] terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event [will occur] somewhere in the Western world - it may be in the United States of America - that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event." (General Tommy Franks Interview, Cigar Aficionado, December 2003)

Franks was obliquely alluding to a "Second 9/11" terrorist attack, which could be used to galvanize US public opinion in support of a military government and police state.

The "terrorist massive casualty-producing event" was presented by General Franks as a crucial political turning point. The resulting crisis and social turmoil resulting from the civilian casualties, are intended to facilitate a major shift in US political, social and institutional structures, leading to the suspension of constitutional government

How to reverse the tide?

The threat of a Second Al Qaeda "Attack on America" is being used profusely by the Bush administration to galvanize public opinion in support of a global military agenda.

Known and documented, the "Islamic terror network" is a creation of the US intelligence apparatus. The "war on terrorism" is bogus. The 911 narrative as conveyed by the 911 Commission report is fabricated.

The Bush administration is involved in acts of cover-up and complicity at the highest levels of government.

Revealing the lies behind 911 would serve to undermine the legitimacy of the "global war on terrorism" which constitutes the main justification for waging war in the Middle East.

Without 911, the war criminals in high office do not have a leg to stand on. Their entire National Security construct collapses like a deck of cards.

To rick,
If you read all the things that you wrote in your blog I think you will see the point if you just examine a few things a little more closely. You fear "marshall law".We've had it before, and in recent times. If you think back just a few years Los Angeles was put under such restrictions when people rioted over the Rodney King trial verdict. But low and behold after a few days, the national guard was withdrawn, police and sheriff units were put back on their regular
patrols and Los Angeles went back to being the butthole of California that it is today.More recently,New Orleans was put under
martial law because as much damage as hurricane Katrina did,the good folks of N.O. decided to give it the coupe de grace' by looting and pilaging their own city.Back in WW2,Air raid wardens
had the authority to arrest you if you were out past curfew, exposing to much light after dark or smoking in the wrong place. My mother was one of these wardens. The one common denominater
is that these were all extreme emergency situations. All governments
have these contingency plans.Even the city of Newbury Park. Now just this morning president elect Obama announced that he would keep Sec. of Defence gates on in his cabinet and he appointed a former four star general( whos name evades me) who worked in the NSA for Bush to head up the NSA for him!Does this make Obama part of Bush/Cheney team? And why these people in these positions?Think about it.Hillary is part of this too! Does that make her a part of
Bush and Cheneys evil plot?

It's not as complicated as you would like it to be.This "Islamic
Terrorism" thing started long long before both you and I were born.
In the Koran,Allah instructed Mohammed to convert the infidels to Islam. If they could not be converted by the word they shall be converted by the sword! You are to slay the infidels! Now,unless you
are muslim, that would be you and me.Probably the only thing you and I have in common. Now,there's alot of people who put the blame on the U.S. for pissing them off,And they have the right to say it,because when I last looked the first amendment is still in place
But if you remember your history there was this little thing called
The Crusades,When Richard the Lionheart led an army to the middle east to take the city of Jerusalem from the muslims. They have never forgotten that! The times being what they were ,Richard couldn't hold the city. The muslims tried to retaliate but could take part of Spain(read the story of El Cid)They had to wait.In the last 40 yrs they have made bolder moves. With the technology available today they can plan an attack from anywhere.Even a cave
Rick.It doesn't take a lot of material to pull off a good attack.
It just takes good planning. We had the slackest airport security in the world at the time of the 9/11 attacks. An idiot could have pulled it off.A moron named Charlie Manson motivated a bunch of girls to commit some pretty horrible murders in the name of Helter Skelter,Adolf Hitler got a whole nation behind him to wage a war in the name of aryan supremacy,How hard would it be for a rich muslim named Osama Bin Laden to motivate other muslims to kill in the name of Islam when they're already commanded to do so in the first place?Think about it.It's not so complicated is it.

To Rick /final comments
Last thing is ,Free republic.com has the transcribed speech of Bill
Clintons NAFTA signing ceromony .You say you never worked so much as you did under Clinton,Then you must have taken the last six years off.I had so much work these past six years I was unable to take a vacation. I had lots of unwanted vacation time during the Clinton years. As far as what Gen.Tommy Franks said, twice as many disagreed with him.Almost everybody was screaming that the troop surge wouldn't work .General Patraus said it would and it did,At
least that's what friends of mine who are actually there doing this job tell me.And besides,if Gen. Franks did make a mistake(which I think his statement was in error) I surely would not hold it against him.He would not be the first Army
Command Officer to grossly mistake the situation at hand,i.e. Westmorland,Custer,Reno.Even MacArthur and Patton made big mistakes
Finally ,You are trying to convince me of MAJOR corruption and conspiracy in the government by quoting exerpts from reports made by that very same government???What's up with that?

face the fact that this country was built by unions, and now it has been destroyed by unions. what the big 3 should do is file bankruptcy, chrysler should go away forever, let gm and ford restructure and fire every single member of management and every single union member. then, bring them all back in and let them know their salries and benefits, which should be what everyone else who works for a corporation gets. no more big hourly wages and ridiculous benefits and months of time off. no more big executive bonuses and golden parachutes. if you can't produce, you can't have a job. it's time this country wises up and gets back to basics before we wake up in canada one day. if you don't want to work hard and take pride in your work, go be a loser in venezuela or somewhere else.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.Whats leads me to believe
that this isn't going to turn around for a while is what EED suggested for me to do. They want me a 6'1" 290lb Copenhagen dipping ,non-politically correct, heavy equipment operating for 30yrs,deer hunting, bass fishing, flag waving, former Navy redneck to go back to college and become a massage therapist. WHAT THE F&*K!

Karl that was pretty damn funny !!! After reading every post here I've got one thing to say to the ones who wish to break into this field of work, go to school. The future of heavy equipment operators, as we know them, is rapidly taking a different path. Caterpillar is already working on systems that WILL be controlled via satellite and someone sitting behind a computer with a joystick manipulating the machine.

I'm 51 and have literally operated heavy equipment my entire life. My dad used to build logging roads and my first memories are of sitting beside him on an old Cat D8-2U cable dozer. I started pulling levers when I was about 5 years old. I can proficiently operate anything from a tower crane to a pallet jack and everything in between. I worked on the Alaska pipeline for 20 years and in various other parts of the world, in other words, I know what I'm doing.

Now lets get back to my comment regarding the future of heavy equipment operators for those wanting to break into this field, go to school and learn how to run computers. Call the any equipment manufacture and ask to speak with their R&D (research and development) department and ask them about remote controlled heavy equipment operations. That's where the future is.

Fred,
I saw a demo of that very thing first hand.Unbelievable.In the demonstration I saw the so called operator was in an office building in L.A.Like you,I grew up in the business.I'm 48 and also spent some time in Alaska. My dad was a project manager for Burgess
Construction. He built the airport at Hooper Bay,The sewage system in Fairbanks, and did some work on the north slope.I worked on the Kern River pipeline among others.I'm probably headed back to Evanston Wyoming pretty soon unless I'm offered something better.I got a line on some pipeline work going on there.

Hi again Karl,

Where did you see that demonstration? I saw one in Japan at Komotsu and the guy running the excavator, in Japan, was actually in India. He was running it ALL by remote !!! I've contacted Cat and am trying to get into this new tech because as I've said, it's the future.

Final note to ALL of my fellow operators out there, you need to learn this new tech that's coming out before they farm out the jobs to a third world country computer geek.

Fred,
I saw this about 5yrs ago out in Victorville.I can't remember the name of the outfit that put it on,I went there with some friends of mine with the hopes of watching it fail. This D8N was all rigged up with GPS,Level Sensors and multiple cameras. It performed a very
simple pad cut.The computer program did 99% of the work.I'll make some phone calls and see if anyone remembers who did it ,I know it wasn't CAT.

i was on a job in nc with a trimble gps system on the finish cat the thing worked great all the grades for the job were programmed in but the only thing wrong with this is that the foremans rely on it too much and replace the grade checkers with it and dont set stakes,so everyone else on the job didnt know what the hell was going on except the dozer which is fine but you still need boots on the ground directing scrapers and setting wood unless u want everyone stopping the dozer whit the gps asking him where to put the dirt even thats fine but when u got 8-10 scrapers going ona fairly flat project things tend to get a little screwy

The ancient Greek philosopher Socrates taught his students that the pursuit of truth can only
begin once they start to question and analyze every belief that they ever held dear. If a certain
belief passes the tests of evidence, deduction, and logic, it should be kept. If it doesn't, the
belief should not only be discarded, but the thinker must also then question why he was led to
believe the erroneous information in the first place. Not surprisingly, this type of teaching didn't
sit well with the ruling elite of Greece. Many political leaders throughout history have always
sought to mislead the thinking of the masses. Socrates was tried for "subversion" and for
"corrupting the youth". He was then forced to take his own life by drinking poison. It's never
easy being an independent thinker! Today, our ruling government/media complex doesn't kill
people for pursuing the truth about the world (at least not yet!) They simply label them as
"extremists" or "paranoid", destroying careers and reputations in the process. For many, that's
a fate even worse than drinking poison hemlock!

Karl and Fred,

I went to Tomahawk, Wisconsin last February to the Case proving ground. We got to check out allt the prototype equipment and stuff they had on the drawing boards. Some of the things they were coming out with was a backhoe with rubber tracks and remote excavators. The thing with this remote stuff is that you can't have a machine running around unmanned. Look at the agriculture equipment piloted by GPS. The machinerey is guided on course for more efficient runs, but there is an operator in there to make adjustments and run the hydraulics for the implement. I could see this being used for scraper runs, but I can't conceive an excavator being remote piloted from somewhere off the jobsite. Maybe on a mass excavation, but how about the situations where the hoe is interacting with guys in the trench? This seems like it could be dangerous as heck!

It is always better to have no ideas than false ones;to believe nothing, than to believe what is wrong.

It as our duty still to endeavor to avoid war;but if it shall actually take place,no matter by whom brought on,we must defend ourselves. If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without,we must try to extinguish it.

No government ought to be without censors;and where the press is free no one ever will.

Thomas Jefferson
