I work for a transportation company and we have drivers coming back from Iraq trying to get jobs in the US and KBR are notorious for taking up to 2 wks getting back to us with employment verification on Equipment driven and dates of employment.

Can you help me?

I am working in Irag as a carpenter for KBR. The money is O.K., not great considering we are working 84 hours a week. The living conditions suck. This is the most unhappy group of people I have ever been around. Nobody likes it here we all miss our families.

Don't bother with KBR. Fluor got the LOGCAP4 contract for northern Afganistan and Dyncorp got the contract for southern Afganistan. KBR is being phased out, the govt. is unhappy with their performance.
I know first hand, I am sending this message from Al Asad airbase in Iraq. Have been here 9 months.

Just so you know that Aero SNOW and SNOWLIFT are two different companies. They both work numerous airports doing snow removal.

It's tough out there right now for work. I hope everyone who wants to go to Iraq gets a shot. My only advice is to pack loads of patience and leave the know-it-all attitude at home. You'll be a lot more likely to at least make it to your first four month break.

hendo in Montgomery, Alabama said: also lookin for operator work out of the country if anybody can help or point me in the right direction that would be great! im 25 and was a operator with a company for 11yrs then was laid off last nov. since then ive been telemarketing and happended to b talkin to someone that had a son workin in iraq as a civilion makin 80k a yr. id really like to get into that. i can run exavators, dozers, and most any dirt moving equip. im the kind of operator that opbill was talkin abt. im very detailed with my work in that when im done with what im doin its perfect no one has to go behind me to do anything. i like to do something good enough that it makes it easier for whoever works behind me. i can do a job faster than most and still make it look as good as anybody else or better. i work well off grades when the job calls for it but i have a very good eye and dont have to have grades to lead me. anyway i would like to go over there and work for a yr or a lil more. my wife is in school full time and works full time for another yr so i cant be with her much and there isnt much work here. so a yr over there makin good money would be great and maybe after that she will be done bein so busy and i can come home and work. if anybody could point me in the right direction or where to look that would be great!!! ty Jason

I worked in Saudi & Colombia for a major U S company. We didnt use anyone with your experiance, background or attitude.
Unitl you change your understanding of what it takes to go overseas you wont have to worry about it.
Ask yourself what it costs to find, hire, tranport some rookie like you to another country. When they make a mistake they can get the money back but not the time invested in you.

KBR requires the applicant to purchase their insurance before they go over, it is about 800.00 per month

Did you know aside from all the troops killed in Iraq, there have been 1,395 reported civilian deaths among U.S. civilian contractors working in Iraq. Be sure to get plenty of life insurance to protect your dependents if you go over there.

Insurance is good , but not cheap. Been there last year, it takes some getting used to. Don't worry about bombs and shooting, it is pretty much over.
