Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most home health aide opportunities?

This industrustry is on the rise. The baby boomer generation is a large generation and they are getting older and are in need of assistance. RNs are gorwing vavstly as there is a major shortage. CNAs are neeed also. HHAs are always being hired. The jobs are everywhere practically. Especially where the city has eliminated its nursing programs. Virginaia has lots of job oppurtunities.

Why would a city eliminate it's nursing programs when hopitals, etc, are crying for RN's? Just curious.

I am in school right now getting certified for Home Health Aid. Does anyone know who is hiring for Home Health Aid positions. I will need a jpart-time ob in about two weeks.

I would love to do private duty work. I have worked as a Home Health Aid for 10 years off and on, I just have not been certified.

I live in Moore, Oklahoma. I can work in Moore, Norman and South Oklahoma City.

I also have a college degree.

Please contact me if you know about any opportunities.

I have been in Home Health Care for over 13 years. And the one thing that I have to tell you is Home Health Aide jobs are hard to get. Your first job your going to most likely have to know someone or make a very very good impression on them to get them to hire you. After you've been in the field for 5 + years and with great references it'll be a lot easier. When you do get a job listen listen listen to your co-workers who's been in the field for a while, listen to your nurses, you'll learn a lot. Don't take correction or advice in your work in a bad way, thank the person and learn from it. Good luck getting a job right out of school. They want experience as all companies in any position does. This kind of job requires the person to have real skills and be able to work alone and deal with what ever situation comes up. Any thing happens in the homes. What would you do if a patient attacks you or a family member attacks you or you walked in on one using drugs or abusing your patient or walked in on a patient dead? Do you really know how to spot abuse or neglect? A lot of times they are covered up. When going into for a job interview these questions will be asked so get your answers straight and right. Hope this helped. And one piece of advice...Remember these people who will be caring for are the loved one of another, they are Gods children too, love them as if they were your own family care for them as you would want someone to care for you. Love them.

I am a recruiter for a home care agency and definitely the industry is in the rise. Especially in the east coast here in New York.
The jobs are everywhere here in the east. If you pick up almost any paper there is a high demand of HHAs.

Advantages of an LLC
The Limited Liability Company (LLC) is now recognized as a business structure in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. An LLC is a hybrid business entity that combines the tax advantages and management flexibility of a partnership, with the asset protection of a corporation. LLCs are a popular choice for sole proprietors or small partnerships that are seeking to form a business entity to separate and protect their personal assets (bank accounts, investments, real estate, etc.) from the debts and obligations of their business.

There on the rise in California because more people are electing to stay in their home instead of going to retirement homes. But alot of the people whom stay home usually end up needing more care than a home health aid can provide. I did this work for over 10 years until I hurt my back with a client that needed more care then I could provide. The downside is you wont make that much money and also the clients always want you to do more than what your duties are. Your the housekeeper, cook, errand person you name it they'll add so many's duties that your burn't out and have nothing to do when you get home. The upside you do meet some pleasant people, the hours can be flexible and sometimes your rewarded in small ways. But if your looking for the big pay off or something steady I wouldn't look to home health unless your an RN or and LVN, because the CNA'HHA's and caregiver or companions are just not compensated very well at all. I'm currently looking for a position in the Dental field and also going back to school to study medical administrative and possibly phlebotomy all which seem to be tough to get a position in if you don't have major experience. But what are we going to do? I say try and try again. Whatever you decide to do I say protect your back and limbs before anyone else, because if you don't you'll end up needing a home health person yourself. Good luck with your choices take care :O)

I live in Ohio and all you have to do to get a job as HHA is to apply at a company. Some want only STNA's or CNA's and to others it doesn't matter. I have worked for a couple of companies that seem to just hire girls off the street with no experience in this field.
You can also get private duty jobs thru government agencies. I don't know if all states have the "Passport" program but the ones that do will also have a "Choices" division of Passport. Choices allows you to work "private duty" with a client which in this case means that you don't have a middleman such as Interim, Heartland etc.
Good luck and keep it professional. Once you allow yourself to become part of a client's "family" they tend to take advantage of you. And then job burn out is a sure thing. But the job can also be very rewarding.

I worked as a housekeeper in Hayward, thru an ad in a local paper. It was tough! I worked for some very unpleasant people! I recently moved to the Austin area, and worked for a Home Health Agency. It was alot of work for not alot of pay! Then I began to work private pay, for individuals needing help. I can honestly say that it's alot better, working for people that can afford to hire you, than for people who can't! Alot of people that I was sent to thru the agency, lived in dire conditions, and it was pretty depressing.
