How did you get your start doing home health aide work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

Many home health service agencies provide free training which can lead to certification as a Home Health Aide (which is what I did). Also many nursing homes will provide you with free training that leads to state certification as a Nurse's Aide (I recommend you do this).

Many agencies provide home healthcare for mentally and physically handicapped clients and often, they do not require any certification, just the ability to pass a background check, drug test, etc. You could start there; they usually offer extra hours if you want some overtime and provide on-the-job training to include American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, etc.

Best wishes,
