Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

To get a NCCER Certification you need to know SSPC to pass the Test + more.

You have to know SSPC www.sspc.org/certification/ to become a NACE!
Who going to pay for it certification. You are your Employer/Program?
If it your Employer/Program you would have to work 2 to 3 years at $21 hr just ot pay it off! and you have to pay for the yearly updates too!
To Make the good $$$ you need to pay for the NACE-I and II Schooling your self!
when you get your NACE-I and II @ PaintSquare is were QC AC jobs are posted!
www.paintsquare.com/careercenter/career_home.cfm << for NACE and Blaster/Panter Jobs

You need experience as painters helpers.
1 month maybe more;

Are get to know someone in the industrial painter business,
who can get you on with out experience,
For no experience the salaries,
starts at your states minimum wage.

With 1 month or more experience,
the salaries is minimum wage up $12 a hour!

I'm not sure about the comments here but my husband is an industrial painter from Alabama. We travel for work and haven't been laid off for 6 years now, thank god, but have in the past. Pay scales vary by state and you do not start off at minimum wage you get paid prevailing wage rate or what Unions pay apprentices. If looking for a career in this field, find your local IUPAT union. They should be able to start you off. I do know southern states are typically the lowest paying jobs. For instance in Rhode Island a journeyman makes 42 an hour (which is prevailing wage for this area), an apprentice 20 something. Good Luck, it's a good field if you can find the right company!

It's good to see that your husband work for 6 years with no lay off,
Here in Houston,
Texas is a Right to work State.
the industrial painter union is dead,
and no prevailing wage here...
for a Master-painter will start out at $10..
and thay come all over the world just to work for that wag,
By the 10,-of-1000-s

But for me I always find the right company out of State ;)
