EMMY-AWARD WINNING PRODUCERS seek the PERFECT DESIGNER for INTERIOR MAKEOVER SHOW with a twist. A new INTERIOR MAKEOVER show is looking for fabulous DESIGNERS able to turn a boring room into something spectacular. The designer should be knowledgeable, out-going, witty, and passionate with an infectious, contagious attitude toward all different types and tastes of interior design. We are interested in your personal style (Encouraging? Gentle? Tough love? Task master?) and your ability to connect with participants as well. Must be energetic, able to work well under time constraints, and must love animals – big or small. You must have a credible, legitimate background in the field of design and a proven track record of success. Casting is by appointment only and will take place 7/28, 7/29, and 7/30. Please send resumes and examples of your work to <Edited by Host: Contact Info Removed>. Please include design samples and a headshot if you have one. |

I would love to see a design show that actually credits interior designers for what they are. I'd love to be on your show if you acknowledged the fact that we are designers that plan our work. Our work is not some craft that is thrown together with a timer next to us and it is generally not installed by interior designers. We design, that doesn't mean we sew, paint, upholster, flower arrange, etc. You should also know that it is an Interior DECORATOR that enhances the look of a room using finishes and materials. An Interior DESIGNER has the skill and ability to work with the actual layout of spaces, changing and creating the flow of the space. We have an amazing career that takes training and skill. We are not Suzie Home-makers who just decided to pick up some paint and make a room cute with accessories. Give us a little credit. Note the rules on this forum "Be Reasonable! Be Polite!" By implying that all Interior Designers do is make boring rooms interesting is an insult to our careers and to our training. Please, be polite- do your research and give us the credit we deserve. |

Thank you Rachel! You so very eloquently stated what many of us in the design community feel. I would love to be on an interior design show but have always resisted because of the "craftyness" involved. The ability to use a hot glue gun wasn't something I was ever tested on in design school. |
