We are asking designers to critique our countertop magazine and website. The magazine provides articles and images of various countertops as a finished and installed product. The magazine also provides countertop product information.

The design of the top seems to me very 1995.
I like the photo on the top. Textual content is full of goodness.

I would recommend you to reconsider the texterity. Websites on texterity are loading ages (because they are basically images - NOT websites) and are not search engine friendly at all, so you won't get any traffic even if you have a great content.

With this sort of content you could get a lot of traffic if you would use a Google friendly system. On the web you should simply FORGET ABOUT YOUR PRINT LAYOUT and publish your content in HTML.

All the articles from the digital version are automatically migrated to the website -- which is definitely more search engine friendly than texterity. Also, the website is a lot easier to search than the digital magazine.

The website is not just a duplicate of the digital magazine. It will have exclusive content you can't find in the magazine.
