Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

I am a detention officer. I make around $34,000 salary a year. Where I work everyone makes around the same money, so I am not sure about the top money in the field. My responsabilities are pretty simple. The major one is to make sure all officers and juveniles are safe. The next one is to make sure the juveniles are going by the rules--that means down to the smallest little things. If you do not make the juveniles follow all the rules they will begin to play around and try and push the limits. Another thing is to try and be someone they can look up to, but generally they are already lost and repeatedly come back. If you have anymore questions ill check back.
