Very first 2ndary research assignment, any advice?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a student and have just begun my very first research project. Personally I really want to get good at performing desk research, gathering intelligence on my own before using outsourced or purchased research.

The assignment involves gathering competitive Intelligence and creating a SWOT for Suzuki Motor Corp and its competitors and I have gotten really beaten down by trying to find good web sources. There's just too much stuff out there and not a lot of it doesn't seems very valuable in terms of understanding the segment focus and value differentiations of these companies.

I was wondering if anyone here had some good starting tips or maybe some good starting web resources that would be helpful in terms of finding marketable insights into different companies and its industry. Thanks!
