I don't know who compiled the data for the income for LMTs in Cincinnati or what they were smoking but very, very, very few (as in I know none and have been practicing for 8 years) make anything NEAR that amount. Cincinnati is glutted with therapists and most work part-time. The graduating class attrition rate is 50% for many years, most don't survive past 5 years. (If memory serves me correctly these numbers are from ABMTA and are reflected in what I have seen.) It is bogus info like this $68K that serves to fuel the "puppy mill" schools that crank out MTs with lots of false hopes. MT is a good profession, a rewarding one--but not usually financially. It is a hard one and people need to be dedicated and mature to survive in it. |

Hello SL, Here is a salary search I conducted which you may find helpful: www.indeed.com/salary?q1=%22massage+therapist%22&l1=cinncinnati%2C+oh&tm=1 Notice that I put the exact phrase I was searching for in double quotations and that the box labeled 'Search Job Titles Only' is checked. These tricks will help ensure that only salary data for jobs with your keywords as the title will be returned. You will also find a blue bar directly underneath the average salary number. When you move your mouse over the bar you can see the level of confidence in the salary estimate and how many data points Indeed has to reference in order to make the estimate. As you can see, this estimate has 'High Confidence' which means that Indeed has used data from over 250 job listings with that title to come up with this estimate. I hope this has helped you interpret the data you were seeing! Best,
