Hey there, I'm finishing up my last year of high school and have wanted to be a massage therapist for a few years now, however, I have major concerns about the pay. Several massage therapists have mentioned that their net pay comes out to about $10 an hour... I'm trying to imagine supporting myself on that, especially taking in to account customers who come in for half-hour massages...How is that enough to comfortably live on? Do I want to go through a year of paying for training to make so little money? I know that working at a spa pays a little better, but who's to say a spa will ever hire me? |

Maybe you should stop thinking negativly about it. If massage therapy is something you are passionate about it then enough money will come to you..Dont go into a career just because of the money find something you actually like to do.

You have valid concerns, Lauren C. To make enough money you have to open your own business. Even then the vast majority of therapists fail. There are far too many massage therapists on the market because school is so easy. I really don't recommend massage for those who don't have strong business skills. If you want to be an employee then explore other career options like physical therapy assistant. |
