Hi. I have been enrolled in a massage therapy school to get my license for about 2 months now. I ask the same question to everyone and never get the same answer and its driving me crazy!.. The school i am in now gives me 600 hours in delaware but i was thinking and i might want to move to new york and i am aware that you need 1000 hours. So when i finish out of the school i am in now do you think it would be possible for me to continue my education at a different school in delaware and transfer over my hours and credits to make up for the 400 i dont have. I hope i explained this ok haha. Someone please help! |

The reason you get different answers is because every school has a different policy. |

Transferring credits between schools doesn't matter because in the end you need to satisfy the state's requirements to get licensced. You can attend 20 schools picking and choosing what classes you want, so long as you meet the state you wanna practice ins requirements. TIP: get sealed copies of your transcripts after finishing with each school because if a school shuts down you'll have a hard time proving your classes. |

Transferring between schools does matter, because every school has a different policy for what it will accept as transfer credit. The important thing is to choose a school that is approved by the state where you want to be licensed. State-approved schools MUST offer the exact curriculum the state requires. If the school is NOT approved by the state where you want to be licensed, you will probably have trouble getting your state license. Here is a list of programs approved by the State of New York: |
