Attending emt was the best descision I did. I learned everything I needed to pass the national test and had a job before I even received the liscence. Within 5 months of graduating I had a full time job with benefits in a major hotel's spa. Best wishes to you massage student

Hi, thanks for the response, but I am just trying to gauge whether it was a genuine answer, because from what I hear landing a job as MT in a spa WITH benefits is hard for even licensed MTs, let alone pre-licensed due to market saturation. Also I see that your location says Hammond, IN.. Did you mean you worked in Las Vegas before? Thanks!

Hello my name is Ashleigh Beltran I saw your two posts asking about EMTS and about your scheduling and homework concerns , I am a recent graduate of European Massage Therapy School so I thought I could offer some advice! I graduated in mid December and I am now a licensed MT currently looking to find my first job.To start I would like to say that I had a wonderful experience with emts the instructors are very knowledgeable and very caring, the class sizes are smaller than most about 20 at the largest in comparison to the more average 50 or so from what I've heard , which I loved because it allows the instructors the time to pay close attention to your individual needs the program is about 8 months and very well priced it was the cheapest in town that I found. In regards to homework I also worked full time for the majority of my time at emts and I was able to do everything necessary to succeed , there really is no homework per say they go over everything in class and it is up to you to study at home so that you're as comfortable as possible with the material at a point during your education you will be asked to complete a number of clinical hours practicing massage at the school, for me that was the toughest time balancing my schedule but you make your own clinic schedule so how you do it is up to you , it was a little difficult during that time but nothing too tough to handle ,anything worth while takes hard work! I genuinely feel like I made the best choice for myself by choosing emts they are like family there and are so helpful every step of the way.As far as the current job market goes I believe it is doing well. The school has job placement assistance so after you graduate they send you job listings , help you with your resume , whatever you need!

I will tell you this, it's hard work!! I been doing this for 2 years! After graduation, I was excited when I started my first job in Massage Therapy after I started out in one of the big casino resorts on the strip, (I won't mention which hotel it was because I have to protect their Spa reputation) but anyway they put you on-call which means you have no idea when your going to work and what hours you will be working! Then once your 90 days is up then your full time or part time which ever they choose, full time your looking at 12 hour shifts which means you will be doing atlest 12 massages, usually they make you do 10 massages, like; deep tissues a day!! Part time your doing 7 massages they consider that part time! Now, if you choose to work off the strip and work at Massage Envy at $15 an hour (which I don't recommend) they will USE you and ABUSE you!!! You won't get all your money like they promise and you will do 5-10 massages a day! To me, I personally think 5 massages is enough!! You have to take of your body and your health, this is a hard career and it can take it's toll on you, I wouldn't recommend Massage job at all! You will be burned out soon just wait... Half my class isn't working at all or never took the exam, it's amazing what this can lead to.. It takes hard dedication and determine to want to do this, I thought I did at after graduation... After my doctor told I have arthritis now at the age of 29 I thought it was time for me to find something new....

I am moving back to California going to school for make up artist, because that is what I enjoy most!!! Atleast I don't have to worry killing my hands for this one, more rewarding career... So my advice, shop around before you spend money on these expensive Massage schools and shop around before you decide to work for anyone... Your better starting your own clientel, but then again were in recession, no one can really afford to get a Massage these days can they?.... Good luck to you!
