Today a client said this to me, and I was speechless. Just wondering what your objective response would be! "You're JUST a massage therapist? Ummm, OK. Why don't you go to college and get a REAL education in something you can be proud of and make good money doing? You're just above the level of an escort in my opinion." |

Is it bad that I would be inclined to tell them to go screw themselves and to never return as a client? lol. What a jerk. I guess they've confused real massage therapy with the sketchy "massage therapy" offered by ladies of the night. And, by the way, massage therapists have saved my lower back on many occasions so I am grateful to people who can handle that career! |

That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in my life. Obviously this gentleman is an arrogant fool that remains to be uneducated. First, massage therapy is a real profession and one that thinks not is absolutely dumb. There is also a stigma to escorts that never used to be there. Hookers use the titles escorts and masseuse as names they hide under so if this guy thinks of you as such then he is just a loser who has probably used these girls. Not that I have anything against the adult entertainment field since I am in it but I would not take his words to heart. If I were you, I would not tolerate such put downs at the expense of an arrogant jerk. I would have stopped your session then and not given his money back for such behavior. Don't let anyone put you down and know that with any profession you will come across real jerks so don't allow them to ruin your day. |

I once had a distant family member "joke" about what I do for a living. We were together after a funeral. I stated firmly and seriously "you would be fortunate to have me work with you if a need presented itself." Everyone stopped silence was deafening! Later on one of those a female officer my cousin became seriously ill living in another state, I sent her Reiki healing long distance she now was quite open to the healing modalities. She transitioned too young, and we were just bonding as adults through her illness. If someone says Just to me I would look them straight in the eye and inform them of the training/studying that it takes and the experience; and the dedication to work with people who truly benefit from our modalities and skill even when they don't understand the value. |

During Call Center training, they told us not to respond to this. They said that 1 out of 5 people suffers from some sort of mental disorder and a personal derogatory statement is often the first indicator of this. Some days, I think all of them called me. |
