Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most master control operator opportunities?

I would say it's on the decline. I've seen several jobs lost in the last year to computers. I've also seen stations combine operations to a single location, allowing companies to cut back on staff.

The work is in decline. I have been in the business for 30+ years, and anyone who is saying that Master Control Operators earn $50k plus, must strictly be talking at the N.Y.C. or L.A. level. In Buffalo they low balled you to as low as they could get away with, especially at the ABC affiliate in town. But it doesn't matter there anymore, as it now is coming out of Atlanta, GA.
