Research or Industry

Hi, my name is Neil. I am a mechanical engineering graduate student with a unique background in that my undergraduate degree was in business but through a specialized program I was able to pursue my masters in mechanical engineering.

I am looking to work in the HVAC industry but haven't had any job experience directly related to engineering. I do, however, have a high GPA and significant project experience. I was recently offered an opportunity to work as a research assistant on HVAC systems, but that would delay my graduation half a year.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I would be better off doing the research or if I would still be viable to compete for HVAC positions as is.
