alicia in Brooklyn, New York said: Becoming a MA is a waste of time the only jobs that is hiring are hha, lpn, cna, pca and rn's now!!!!Im glad that I went to school to become a cna because I got a job right away. All these nursing schools just want your money so they will tell you anything for it.The best thing to do is find out whats hiring before you get cerified in that profession That is true it is hard finding a MA job. some nursing homes will hire MA and train them to be a tech and certify them. I work as a a Tech in a hospital and as a MA for a staffing agency. I prefer the Ma position. Better hours, pay, and less stress on my back. |

Try handing your resume to private practice offices. That worked for me. |

I believe that you need to go back to school for LPN.That is what I am going to do because of the way it has been about getting a job. Also when they first came up with a Medical Assistant it was a big thing but now it is not. |

Samantha Malone in New Haven, CT said: Hi, I would like to get a jobs working in the medical asst field I looked and looked and I just cant find anything please help me i live in Newhaven c.t and my e-mail address is hazle16@netzero.net I look forward to hearing from u thank you Hi Samantha, There are tons of jobs for Medical assistants in the Greater New Haven area. Are you certified? I find a lot of people are not taking the test and then having a lot of difficulty. You might also look at jobs listed as office assistant for both medical and dental. Sometimes the ads are just rubberstamped. Take the time to apply even if it indicates it needs 3 years of exp. If you have worked another type of job for 3 or more years, you have experience and are a stable employee. Then your externship should help with your experience. Don't give up. I work with grads all day long in job searches, so I know the jobs exist. Its a matter of finding a way in the door. My previous blog 16 months ago (listed below) also gives hints. but do not hesitate to get dressed and walk to offices that aren't even advertising and present your resume and yourself. Sometimes that bit of initiative is impressive ...and you may walk in the day someone is leaving a position and not yet been advertised. Good Luck.
