FALSE PROMISES FROM SEACOAST CAREER,NEW HAMPSHIRE ! I graduated in the month of October. I search daily for medical assistant jobs. I was told by SEACOAST CAREER SCHOOL in MANCHESRER NEW HAMPSHIRE, thay had 100%job placement after graduation.....THEY LIED ! Iwas told they would supply me with as many interviews as it took for me to secure a position ! THEY LIED ! They have not given me one! They also told me this would be a benefit for life! THEY LIED ! The only thing they did not lie about was taking my payments, and cashing my checks ! BEWARE OF THESE SCHOOLS,for they are the only ones making money !Keep writing, we all need help, maybe 20-20, or Susan Wornick from channel 5 might help us out ! Good Luck to all of us ! Six of my friends are not working in their field too. They graduated, and Seacoast has not followed through with their promise to supply us with the interviews the school promised !!!!!I will not give, up I will make one of the best medical assistants in the field ! Good luck to everyone. I hope someone exposes these schools to the public. I feel it should be illegal to allow these type of schools to exist ! Please write about your experiences, we might help others or ourselves. I want my money back, or interviews !

They told me their job placement was in the 80th percentile, which is not 100%. Judging by your post, I think I can see why you fell into the ~20% that do not get placement.

ERIC, You were not there when they told me these things, Judging by your post, you are extremely ignorant of the way this school works!LOL If you do some more homework, Eric, you will find that 80% is a big fat lie too!GOD help us if you work for a newspaper! I think I smell a plant, or maybe an admissions rep. Call Bryman schools, they lie! You do not even know me! I had perfect attendence, and grades! LOL You believed them too !Click here, ERIC www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/01/31/60minutes/main670479.shtml

How dare you! You believe these schools? Guess what Eric? 80% is a big fat lie too!!!!! Read the link about these multi billion dollar a year schools. I hope you work for the Newport News, They will be getting a phone call from me, is this how you cover a story? I could give you a lot more graduates names who graduated with me also! LOL LOL LOL You believe they have an 80% job placement !! The truth is they have no leads at all. The joke is on you! You believed 80%!!!!! LMAO I bet you think the CBS story, that aired in 2005, is false too ? Please humor me more by telling me your comments about the story. Instead of calling these types of schools, go in, pretend you want to become a medical assistant, hear for yourself. Never judge a person untill you have met them, and even then you should not judge! I am pretty sure THAT job is taken ! LOL 80% LOL

Betty, I totally understand where you are coming from! I graduated last month from Seacoast and they haven't helped me at all. I was in the Medical Assisting program and they didn't even help me find an Extern sight... after many months of calling them to see if they found one for me(like the promised), I finally found one myself.

Bottom line is everyone should know that Seacoast Career in Manchester is horrid. And no one should go there.

PS don't go for Medical Assisting either... it is way too hard to find a job.

Hi Alexandra, I am so sorry for you too! Could you please e-mail me, at betty000@comcast.net. I would love to hear what they promised you, before you signed on with them. Did you take out a student loan with them? Do you know of any students that were expelled, and why they were? Do you know of any student that should not have been accepted in to the medical assistant program, due to their mental abilities, or drug addictions? How many friends that you met in the M.A. program actually have secured employment? LOL How many did not? Please e-mail me at home, I would love to talk with you. Six of my friends still do not have a job in the M.A. field yet! Your input is essential to me, I will tell you more later! Thanks,Good luck !

Betty and Alexandra,
What kind of program is this? How many months or is it a 2 year
program? Is it accredited by the HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISION of
New Hampshire? What kind of pre-reqs do students need to be accepted? Just wondering. Good luck to you both.

Hi Lexi, This is an accredited medical assistant school. If you read my link I posted about the CBS news story, aired in 2005. To be eligible, LOL, you must be a high school graduate, and pass their test. LOL, everyone passes the test, even those with learning disabilities ! You just need a pulse, and a pen, and you are in ! I have done a lot of homework on this school, they have done lot's of big no-nos'! I am not finished with them yet. Alexandra, please e-mail me, I will give you my phone number, we can talk then, Thanks !

If you went to law school at Harvard do you think they would find you a position???????

The independent research that I have conducted on staffing trends in the health care industry repeatedly show significant growth in medical assistant positions. Even when I search for jobs in New Hampshire I see many open positions. How can you say you are unable to obtain employment in this field?

Hi Trish,
In the research that I have conducted on medical assisting, I too have seen significant growth within the field. By these numbers alone it would seem almost impossible to not be able to obtain a job as an MA. But what the research doesn't say is that most medical professions want to hire an MA with atleast 1 years experience, and speaks a second language. If you don't have 1 years experience and don't speak a second language it is almost impossible to get a job.
Good luck to everone.

Lawrence, MA. The scum capital of the earth, that explains a lot! #1- I never said I did not have a job.- #2 Harvard does not make false promises!-#3 I am grown up, you don't even know me.-#4 I did not want to become a lawyer, again you do not know me. -#5 SEACOAST CAREER SCHOOLS, Manchester, N.H. TELLS LIES !! LAWRENCE, MA. ? People like me, and my friends do not even go near that city, to me, this explains your ignorance. We try to support each other on this site, as best we can. YOU seem, to not fit in. We are more caring, and have more compassion for a graduate seeking employment. We would not make derogitory statements to a M.A. You are, actually a very inconciderate person. If you are angry about something, you should seek assistance, for on this site we seek support from each other. I would recomend an anger management course for you, as this is not a normal response. Good luck to you, and Lawrence, Ma.

Thank you, Alicia, well written. I have also noticed in the N.H. area, CNA's,and LNA's have become more prevalent in my job searches. They are allowed to dispense medications, making them a valuable resource for hiring. We can not work in Nursing Homes, they can. Well, good luck to us all. I could have graduated my High School as a C.N.A. I chose medical assisting, and a school that made so many false promises. Thanks for the info. Take care, and good luck !

Harvard does not overcharge and does not promise job placement! Poor comparison posted by "medical assistnt in Lawrence, Massachusetts" - notice this poor comparison was posted by someone that did not spell their own profession correctly or even bother to edit their work!

I would expect better by someone in Virginia. These schools pray on youth and inexperience to suck money dry with promises they regularly do not fulfill. I have been waiting nearly two months for a proper contract from the school & have not seen one yet. As a parent, I am beginning to question the schools ethics and procedures.

Helen Carter in Topeka, Kansas

Betty,

My name is Helen and I didn't went to school for Medical Assisting, but I went to Bryan College in Topeka, Kansas and took Computer Networking. This was two years ago and I was 23 at the time, tired of dead end jobs, being broke all the time, and I wanted a career in the field of Computer Networking. I also took Medical Billing and Coding at US Career Schools two years ago, I couldn't find a Medical Billing or Coding job because all the places wanted a year of experience. So, I saw an ad about Bryan College on TV, signed up online, got a call that evening, took their extrance test which was very easy, and begun the classes. That was September 2006. 14 months passed, I graduated, tried to find a job and ran into the same problem you did: can't find a job
since everyone wanted you to have a year of IT experience. It's not directed towards you, but how do I get experience when I need the job so I could gain experience?

While I was going to classes, I ask the teachers about their job placement services for graduates, they told me they had a 100% placement for graduates! They also had a career director who supposed to help you find jobs for the rest of your career life. When it came time to find an IT job, the career director did not have leads for any of us graduating from their Computer Networking
program in December of 2007. The next month, she had leads but it was for jobs needing experience of 1 or 2 years! So, I have been looking for an IT job since December 2007, and I am still not working in the IT field because employers are now requiring 1 or 2 years of experience. I have been going to the temp agencies and unemployment office, but they can't find me anything and they are just as frustrated as I am trying to find work. I tried seven local computer stores but they aren't hiring right now for anymore computer technicians but can accept my resume. Sorry for the long paragraphs, but I'm frustrated just like you are.

Also, I forgot to add, another girl I ran into at Walmart, she took Medical Office Assistant at Bryan College, graduated at the same time I did, and she can't find a job in the Medical Office Assistant field. Employers keep telling her she doesn't have enough experience. Bryan College in Topeka, Kansas lies! Don't go to Bryan College! The career director told her and me to keep applying until someone finally hire us, but it's hard to keep applying when employers don't want to hire someone that's fresh out of school. Go to a four year college or university if you get
loans, scholarships, and grants to pay for college, the money is out there and it is well worth it! You will have a lot more job opporunities with a Bachelor's degree than the diploma that's offered by Bryan College!

Hi Helen, I am so sorry to hear about your experience too. Yes, I agree with you, go to school to become an L.P.N or an R.N. I am not finished dealing with my school, SEACOAST CAREER SCHOOL, I have also found out they are part of the P.E.G. schools. ( PREMIER EDUCATION GROUP ) There are so many of them all over the country, each with different names, different looks, and different teachers! The only thing that I have found to be the same, is they are all scam schools. Yes, we have been scammed. We were too trusting, we worked hard, and they made the money! I am now saving my money to get a lawyer, plus a few more tricks up my sleeve! I hope things will work out for us. Please keep writing. Thank You, and Good Luck !

HI Trish, BECAUSE THEY ALL WANT EXPERIENCED ! Some people are lucky to be hired straight from their externship site. Sorry to shout, but the independent studies are not showing the L.N.A'S slowly taking part of the job growth market. I am in N.H. I have found some areas like Boston, do advertise a lot for medical assistants. I have applied to several, if not all, and again. they want experienced medical assistants. Please read through some other stories, and make sure to read the link I posted about the C.B.S. 60 minute story that aired in 2005.Remember,this is a multi-billion dollar a year business, with lots of funding by the federal government!

I went to school at McIntosh in Dover and I don't have a lot of good things to say about them. I was lucky enough to get hired at my extern site. McIntosh also made many promises but we all have to remember that in the end we are the ones going for the interviews and we have to "SELL" ourselves to the potential employer. For the people that are done with school and still looking for a job you can apply at the jobs that want experience and you could offer to do a trial period where you can learn more and if they do not feel you are a fit for the position then you move on. You can also call around to you local offices and ask if they are would consider letting you shadow the experienced medical assistants, this lets them know that you are really serious about learning and that you may be a great asset to their office. I hope this helps, sorry it is long. Like I said McIntosh also made a lot of promises they did not keep but my class mates and I were determined to put our education (or money) to work and were persistent.
McIntosh is such a "great" school that they are closing!!
