Hello everyone, I am currently attending school to get my A.O.S. in Medical Assisting. I would like to continue my Education and go for something Higher in my career in the same field. I would like to transfer my 60 credits to another school. Does anyone know of a school in New York? With an A.O.S. can the credits be transfered into a Nursing Degree school? I want to get a Bachelors Degree. Thanks for all your input. |

It is my understanding that you cannot transfer any credits obtained in an "A.O.S" because that particular degree is not recognized by the Board of Higher Education. You would need to hold an A.A.S., A.S., or A.A. In order to transfer credits. You went to a private, technical/vocational college, right? Perhaps you could transfer the credits to another technical college that offered a 4-year degree you were interested in? However, you could not transfer the credit to a standard university. |

To clarify, I think that the reason that you can't transfer the credit is because the U.S. Department of Education accredits technical/vocational colleges differently than other 2-year colleges and universities. It's pretty lame because it makes things hard on people; I have a friend who got an Associates Degree from Pioneer Pacific and she could not transfer any of the credit when she went back to school at community college. She had to end up re-taking a lot of classes. :( But, like I said, try a career university. Good luck! |

I have a associate of science. Is that AOS degree? I wanted to go into BSN RN degree. Probably I need to retake all the classes again. Is that right? |
