michelle in San Diego, California said: i've graduated this march and havent found a job yet because i dont have any experience in the field. How am i supposed to get experience if they dont hire me. I graduated at the top of my class and I had 6 jobs waiting for me when I finished. I have been a CMA since 2005 and have had 2 jobs. If you don't have a job yet, there is something wrong in one of these areas..1) you are asking for way too much money out of school; 2)you need work on your resume (i can help you); 3)your interviewing isn't going well; 4)you really aren't looking hard enough. Your school should have lifetime placement opportunities. You may HAVE to take a low paying MA position to get at least 6 months experience. I started my first job making $10 per hour and now I am making $16.50 an hour. So, it can be done. |

Tabetha in Granbury, Texas said: I am fixen to be starting school for a medical Assistant. I am kinda scared though, because I was In Special Ed classes all through school. I did graduate but I dont really know math all the well, so I was wondering what type of math Is Involved and just how hard the program Is. thanks You will need to find another word to use besides "fixen" if you want to get in to medical school. "fixen" is a term you use when something needs repairing. You can't use those types of words if you plan on being a medical professional. Just wanted to give you something to think about. I refuse to consider hiring anyone who cannot use the english language properly. |

I am very confident that when I go to college there will be some for caring teachers there to help me out. Yes, I will have to work harder then most college students, and I will. I am not just gonna sit back and live on welfare the rest of my life just because I was In some Special Ed classes and I dont like being talked down because I didnt use the english language, "PROPERLY" I asked a few simple questions that had nothing to do with English language. |

Just so you don't misunderstand, I wasn't trying to criticize you; I am trying to help you. I commend you for going forth and not letting anything hinder you. I have a brother who was in special ed classes his entire life and like you, he didn’t allow that to stand in his way, he is now a Wal-Mart manager. If you can't take constructive advice from a stranger, I'm afraid you may not do well in the medical world if someone tries to correct you. Although it may seem a personal attack, how you communicate definitely will always be a reflection on you and future promotions. Not everyone is sensitive to those who have special circumstances and I sure would hate for someone to offend you and mean it as I am not and would never intentionally offend anyone. If you took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize. I am trying to help you. I know from the passion you have you will be awesome at whatever you do! |

Monica Wilson in Caseyville, Illinois said: I graduated from a school for medical assisting over a year ago. I am a certified,RMA,CPR certificate and still cannot find a job Hey all. I finished my classes in April & we had graduation in June of this year. I'm currently working in a pharmaceutical company so right now its not a problem that I can't find a medical assistant job. However, my friend who graduated with me is having trouble finding a job. She is a Certified Medical Assistant, First Aid/CPR certified and soon will be taking her EKG certification. I find it hard to believe that "one of the fastest growing careers in America" is not allowing people to find a job... its ridiculous to pay all this money for schooling to still be out of the medical field months or a year later. Good luck to all those looking for jobs. I know how hard it is because I've been helping my friend. Take Care! |

I am currently a Medical Assisting student. It's almost time for me to do my internship and I cannot find a site to do it. I am finding this very hard because I work during the day, so I would need a hospital or doctors office that is open till late. I am currently located in Tampa FL. I am thinking of switching my major to Health Service Administration because of my issue with finding a site. The school is not taking part too much in finding me a site. I am a online student. I am doing my last general education class. If I could find a site soon I can graduate by June or July. I feel disappointed that I cannot find a site nor can the school find me one. |

Hi everyone, I can admit that I was a victim in school to the lies that they were telling everyone about increasing jobs as a MA. I have graduated with an associates degree in December of 2006 and have not found a job yet. I was even willing to lower my pay to $9.00 if possible, but all I heard in response is the infamous quote "you don't have any experience". I was even willing to relocate across the country if need be. It got to be so bad that I just gave up and now I'm in nursing school where I know I will find a job for sure. My advice to everyone is don't wait so long like I did or find another trade because medical assisting is not it if you don't have experience!!!!!!!!!!! |

I HATE THAT ALL THESE PLACES NOW HAVE APPLICATIONS ONLINE AND THEY NEVER CALL BACK. i GRADUATED FROM AN M.A. SCHOOL IN OCTOBER OF LAST YEAR. I FINISHED MY EXTERNSHIP IN JANUARY. MY SCHOOL HAD PROBLEMS FINDING ME A SITE AND IT TOOK THEM LONG ENOUGH. NOW IM JUST JOBLESS AND ITS REALLY STRESSFUL TO BE BROKE! I APPLY HERE AND THERE AND NOTHING. WHY DO SCHOOLS GUARANTEE JOB PLACEMENT WHEN THEY DONT DO ANYTHING IN THE END?UGH... ITS SOOOOO FRUSTRATING. SCHOOL AINT CHEAP AND YOU WOULD THINK THEY CAN AT LEAST GUARANTEE YOU A JOB AFTERWARDS |

I live in Yuma, AZ, I just moved here about a month ago and I am looking for a job. I just graduated in June and have got certified as a Medical Assistant, phlebotomist, and I also hold a certificate as a Medical Administrative Assistant. I'm having a hard time finding a job, seeing how most jobs requires bilinqual english/spanish applicants who have at least 2 years of experience. It would be nice if someone who is from this location to respond back. Thank you. |

I graduated from medical assisting in 2007 and was number 1 in my class. I've had three interviews and each turned me down due to inexperience. I am tired and frustrated. It doesn't feel good to have to live with your mother with two kids because you can't find a job. In my interviews they pump me up as if they were going to hire me, then I don't get any call backs. My whole life I wanted to work in the medical field and every time I don't get call backs makes me feel like a failure. |
|
Julio in Pleasanton, California 10 months ago |
First of all, You are NOT a failure,You are number one! I know it is hard sometimes to find a job, I have been there, You have done your part which is study hard and being number one in your class, I wish i was number one in my class. remember everything as its own time; time to study, time to look for a job, time for interviews, time for wait for call back, time to get a job! you are in your way to get a job! be positive review your books and keep looking it will come , Don't it is gonna be fine. remember every time you go to an interview you gain experience so when the right job for you calls you for an interview you are gonna be ready and they are gonna hire you. believe it, it does not cost you anything!
