Ms. Westchester in Schaumburg, Illinois said: I am an advisor for a school teaching the healthcare fields and i just want to say that i also notice the lack of jobs but thats because we have blanketed the areas. offices are looking more to hire ma's because they can do everything the nurse's do for less money.

the problem is the less money part. they are offering less and less because there are so many ma's out there that will take anything. know what you are worth and stop accepting less. this will make the employers know that they must respect your position and all that you do and to show that, they will have to pay you for it.

i have many grads not working but some of that is the high expectations leaving out. when you finish school, you only have limited knowledge and should not walk out like you have a bachelors degree and expect 20 an hour as some do.

work your way up, get ur foot in the door. an average starting pay should be between 12-15 an hour but i have some that want to start at 8,9 and 10. i would never send my grads to them but those are the ones that offer extensive training so you dont receive the benefit until you get a raise and you will or leave.

with all the skills aquired, your next position will pay you more but you gotta start somewhere.

here is a link to all the hospitals and facilities in NY, maybe you can check availability in some....

I think you statement is so true, but is there help with people with learning disabilities such as spelling for a graduate as a MA here in ct?

Hi Ashley:
Try the medical staffing network, and intel staffing network, promed employment agency. You have to have at least one year experience to work with them in a hospital setting.

I am in the same situation. Business don't want any person without experience, the externship it's not enough. The worst point is that already my student loan has to start to be paid starting in this month of September. I was told to volunteer but they either want to take any risk and more if it's in this medical field. Well I wish you good luck but I am in the same page as you.

Regards,
Olga-Nebraska

make sure you have a check list from your program director of things you are suppose to accomplish/master then show a list of items that you need marked off that way you learn what you want/need if you have problem you should go to your program director/counslor I had the same problem you take charge if they dont remember you get graded for this too and if you think you dont deserve that grade back up why but in a good manner manner. Have a good attitude you can do this:)

I had the same issue with my site. The office manger was horrible. She hired every extern only paying 10.00 per hour and only give us one day a week. I feel as if my field is full of MA's.Every where I look somebody just graduated and cant find a position. I'm also concerned that wont find a position paying me my worth . I'm going back to school for Bio Science because I was making way more money at UPS! GOOD LUCK!

It could be the RN or the LPN. Or if its a C Section then it could ba a Surgical Tech. It just depends.

What became of this? Lifeline Screenings is a legit business based out of Cleveland. I have applied more than once, as well as had the screenings done. There is no selling, you travel around in a county and set up, usually in churches, to perform screenings like ultrasound etc. on customers who have paid for an appointment. Has anyone else applied to this company, or worked for them?

I did not get the job, probably due to lack of experience. I did not get an interview either. I'm tempted to apply again, though.
Thanks for replying.

Why would they call you for an interview and then not give it to you? Have you gotten anymore experience since then?

There are at least 5 MA positions in the last month listed-www.lifelinescreening.com/careers/default.aspx

I don't know why they never called back, but they sent a rejection letter. I will try again.
No experience since, except some volunteer work in an Urgent Care Clinic.
