Certified Billing and Coding Specialist

I'm trying to take the CBCS exam, however I'm having trouble narrowing down what to study. Also, I was reading some posts and see alot of talk about CPC, and CCS certification... Whats the difference and are the testing topics the same?? Thank you in advance...

I don't know if this will help but I have looked into both the CPC and CCS.

The site basically says that the CPC is for physician based where as the CCS is for hospital. However, the AAPC also has a CPC-H certification for hospital and there is a CCS-P which is physician based. So I guess it depends on what type of coding you are doing. I have found that the AAPC seems to be more prevalent at least in my area. As far as the CBCS, I am thinking about that as well because it goes beyond just coding and focuses more on billing as a whole. I have signed up for the CPC already but may take the CBCS also.

I studied this through Ocean County College in Toms River; had to learn anatomy, physiology, terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding, medisoft billing/scheduling and transcription. Have certifications as Medical Office Specialist, Certified Billing Coding Specialist and HIPPA certifications. It's not helping me in the least, going with temp agencies.
